"I love you."
"I love you."
"I love you."
The sweet trill of her voice rang out throughout the night, above the ruckus, and set his very being ablaze. His spark surged violently as the ecstasy of her words seeped into him. It was as if he'd reached out and snatched the sun from the galaxy, it was hot, fierce, and untameably powerful.
Crimson optics bore into her blown eyes, searching the dark of her pupils. If he stared too long he could almost fool himself into believing he were gazing up the cosmos. They were that captivating.
Lauren was just that beautiful to him. Radiant, perfect in every possible way, and she was entirely his. Her words only confirmed that.
Under the gaze of her, he felt whole, at peace, at home.
Home.
That word struck him suddenly with the weight it held and he swore he felt the physical recoil in his spark. Primus... How had been so inept? That was unlike him, unlike the decepticon overlord he was.
Home.
His processor echoed bitterly as he was confronted with the harrowing realization that earth would be no more for him once that ship was in his clutches. The mech had already been battling with the stark fact of her mortality, and now... Primus how had he never realized?
Another cruel joke bestowed upon him by the god they called their creator. He wasn't deserving of a higher power smiling down as he was awash in sin and the energon of millions. Why should his life be peaceful when he'd not allowed an immeasurable amount of sparks to flourish?
The pure, absolutely beseeching emotion she'd granted him was conflicting with his own inner turmoils. It was strange and gave him great pause as many more thoughts clouded his mind. The world had seemingly stopped spinning.
One, though, stuck out more prominently than all the others.
Had she, too, been stewing in this revelation? There was no doubt in his mind that she'd already been made aware of their circumstance. His thoughts wandered to the file she'd been given and every one of their interactions leading the two of them to this point in time.
Every fleeting glance, the sullen contemplative expressions when she thought nobody was paying her mind, and every ugly emotion she extinguished hastily in an effort to burry her demons.
Lauren was no fool and she most certainly wasn't unintelligent.
Was this how she'd felt all this time? Something about knowing that struck his pride greatly, instilling a deep festering guilt. What kind of sparkmate was he?
"You're going to miss me so bad when I'm gone, Megatronous."
Those words rang out hauntingly above all else, because she was right and he loathed that. Did her spark- no, her soul plague her as did his?
Oh, how selfish he'd been, ever the greedy tyrant he was cursed to be.
All these revelations came to him in only a matter of nanokliks as he stared longingly into the blue of her eyes, but it felt like he'd spent an eternity rooted in his place as the weight of everything came crashing down on him.
Crimson optics searched for her in that fleeting moment, his spark reaching out in futile desperation to soothe away these painful realities, reaching out to take in all her light like a destructive black hole among the stars. He wanted everything and then more. His hunger was never truly satiated and she was no exception, wanting to take her in fully and occupy her every moment in time before she inevitably would rejoin the earth.
