Rest didn't come easily. It never seemed to, however with Megatron around, Lauren found she'd slept better than she ever had in the years that followed her grandparents' passing.
Weather it be memories relived, the void, or simply what use to be her bedroom, she did not care. Not having a preference for any of the sort.
But, things never seemed to stay peaceful for her. No, she couldn't possibly be afforded that type of luxury.
Dread. Pure, unadulterated, raw fear and dread weighed her down, pooling deep in her core. It'd been just like it had been previously, that primal knowledge of impending doom gnawing at her every sense. Every fiber of her very being screamed, cried, demanded for her to flee, to rid herself of whatever was the cause of her ailment.
Then, there was light. Blinding, bright light that seemed to swirl much in the way water would.
Shadows came next, contrasting the brightness harshly and leaving her to dangle in the middle, caught between two planes in some kind of sick, twisted version of purgatory.
At least, that's what she'd call it.
This isn't real. Her mind was quick to scream in an attempt at rationalizing the situation. In an attempt to ground her rightfully, but she knew... Lauren knew full well that what she was seeing was not something her subconscious conjured. She knew full well that the in-between she'd been thrusted into was real.
It's only a dream. Another futile attempt at rationalization.
It was surreal in the way she both felt weightless and rooted in her stance.
What was this...? Why was she seeing this? What was happening?
Part of her wanted to call out to Megatron in the hopes he'd hear her, but no sound left her vocal chords. Everything was muffled and muted softly. In better circumstances she'd almost call it calming.
Sucking in a steady breath, she did her best to self soothe. The pull within her chest was a comfort in and of itself and she did well to latch onto that grounding sensation.
Sapphire eyes blinked open to survey her surroundings with upmost caution.
This was no dream. No. Then what?
Lauren studied the area. She, indeed, was between two planes, stood perfectly between a wall of cool pastel blue light, swirling gently as though it were a stagnant wall of water. It was hypnotizing and if she stared long enough she could swear it was beckoning her.
To her right, a dark, brooding abyss of darkness. Hazy around the edges, it whispered nothing quietly. Warmth was palpable and emanated steadily from the darkness.
God, what was going on?
The brunette swallowed, her eyes traveling back to the brightness naturally. Hesitantly, she stepped toward the wall, doing her best to snuff out the ebbing impending doom feeling.
A gentle coolness brushed her skin, much like a breath of fresh air that had blown by. A gentle breeze.
The closer she got, the more the gap closed, and the more that came into view.
There were... figures? Silhouettes, several of them.
Brows furrowed together in apparent confusion as she stopped mere inches from the wall when everything- everyone came into view.
