Optimus was probably the furthest mech from stupid as one could get. Easily trusting, empathetic, and undying in his ways, but not stupid. Not naive, not dumb, nor was he slow. Well seasoned in the ways of life and he'd even like to say he was quite knowledgeable on human customs and culture.

No, the autobot leader was anything, but stupid.

The Prime had noticed several stark things in his incredibly short time sharing a roof with his once close brother, Megatron. Several things indeed.

Lauren ran a hand through her wet tresses lazily as she approached the decepticons. Her shoulders had adopted a relaxed posture as she padded up to the decepticon tyrant. God, she felt like a new woman. like she'd 'washed her sins away'.

"She lives. I was starting to think you drowned, but hey, you don't smell like a cow's ass anymore." Nitrozeus jabbed verbally with a snicker.

"You're such an asshole, y'know that?" She'd retorted without thought or so much as a glance in the trackers direction. A yawn escaped her lips. The single optic mech had chortled something unheard as she moved.

Megatron stooped his palm and, as if on cue, she was quick to topple into his protective hold as he ascended her up toward his shoulder servo to which she conformed to him naturally. Lauren soaked in his warmth greedily as she situated. The decepticon didn't give any second thought to the action, doing it as if he'd been doing it his whole life.

Optimus was swift to rise to his pedes, knowing the way red optics followed his every movement. The mech stepped just outside the cathedral, being sure to stay along the far side of the building and out of sight.

A pensive vent escaped him as he crossed his arms atop his chassis, optics set in a gentle narrow as he thought to himself. He just needed some air, some space.

His processor racked with much too many things, but as of the moment the main thing floating about his mind was Lauren and his very personal rivalry with the decepticon in question. The autobot replayed each single encounter he'd had with the two, human and robot alike, and some things began to stack up. Another vent escaped the mech, his shoulders dropping as he cast his sights skyward. The stars always seemed to calm his nerves, it reminded him of a home long lost.

Perhaps he was reading much too far into such miniscule things, though...

The way in which Megatron- all of the decepticons- moved around her with such an air of... caution? Tactfulness? Gentleness ? How was one not to notice? After so many years at war with said mechs, it was mind boggling and almost concerning. Of course a part of him worried for her sake, humanity was his charge after all, even after everything. He took on a responsibility and he'd be sure to see it through.

She was so quick to approach them and did so with such ease. So quick to defend them, too. It didn't sit right in his spark chamber.

Optimus's brow ridge creased as his jaw screwed shut tighter. All his thoughts only served to rouse new questions with no clear answers in sight.

He'd noted the way he held her close, very close, too close. At first he'd thought it'd been done in a threatening manner, as of she'd been captive, but... In recent time the autobot leader had come to notice the permeable care the decepticon overlord assured his movements with. The way in which she went to him and the way in which he beckoned to her.

His glossa ran over the inside of his denta as his mind worked, the gears turning at high speeds to draw conclusions.

If Optimus had to phrase it, he'd almost say that perhaps the femme was in some way precious to the decepticon, but no, that wouldn't make any sense. None at all.
