Keefe's pov
(Ik y'all are prob tired of his pov and trust me-I'm gonna do other ppl's)

The impact I braced for never happened.
I stretched my gaze towards the horizon and saw dozens of cars rushing on the street, houses lit up with the light bulbs, this is exactly what I saw before I jumped.
Am I frozen in time?
Is this what dying feels like, painless and floating?

Speaking of floating, I looked downwards and saw people walking on the side-walks with their heads buried in their phones, unaware that I'm somehow floating above their heads.
I felt a slight movement around my waist, I realized that someone is holding me up-preventing me from falling. That's why I felt like floating, I'm still alive.

Should I be happy?
I should... shouldn't I?
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
But why aren't I happy?

"Kid, I gotta pull you up now, I'm slipping." A female voice said, I think she's the one who's holding me now.
"Um...." I replied, I didn't know if I wanted to be pulled up or not.
I felt myself slipping downwards towards the people, the pair of arms tightening around what is not my armpits.
"You gotta lift yourself up on the count of 3, okay?" she asks. I nodded, not sure if she saw me or not.
"1," I got myself ready
"2," I transport all my energy towards my legs
"3!" I thrashed my legs in the air furiously, but somehow I slipped.

I screamed, people looked upwards and gasped, but I didn't care.
I literally saw my life flashing in front of my eyes, I won't die this way, my friends are counting on me, Foster's counting on me.

"Grab on!" she screamed, throwing her arm towards me.
I tried grabbing her arm again but slipped and fell backwards, my heart beating against my rib-cage.
I gave one last try and reached for her hand.

I felt the familiar warmth of her hand.
My body shook, not from the cold, nor to the current position we're at-dangling off the rooftop of a hospital; but from happiness.
"Hold on, I got you." the woman said, voice thick with emotions-whether for me or for herself, I never found out.
"Try and get yourself up again. This time, DO NOT let go of my hand. I'll count to 3. 1.... 2........... 3!" she shouted.

I gave all my strength in pushing myself upwards, I don't remember touching the ground of the rooftop but I stared at the stars shining brightly in the sky.

"Thank you" I whispered to the nurse "for not letting me die tonight."
"Hey! It's my job to save people, not to kill them!" She replied jokingly.
"My name's Keefe, Keefe Sencen."
"Livvy Sonden." she said, smiling at me.
She has dark skin, tiny jewels are woven into her long black hair, full lips, soft rounded nose, and bright silver-ish blue eyes.
She wore a plain white nurses' uniform and handed me a bar of chocolate, "Eat."

I gobbled down half the bar-I shared half with Livvy, and talked about the stars and her experience as a nurse.
"I went to nurse school because my dad passed away due to cancer and my parents divorced, so I always wanted to learn how to be a nurse so when someone gets sick we won't lose them again."
I sat there processing her words, I never knew someone could endure this much at such a young age.

"You want cookies?" she said, holding out a packet of chocolate chip cookies.
"Seriously? Where'd you put all this stuff?" I asked, shocked.
"Secret." Livvy replied, winking at me.
We shared the cookies and just as we're about to eat, Dr.Elwin bursted out of the doors leading to the hospital out of breath.

"Keefe, Livvy. Come down now. We have news." he said, then rushed down the stairs.
We packed the leftover cookies and rushed behind him. When we reached the bottom, Livvy risked asking a question "What is it?"

"Sophie Foster is awake."
