Sophie's pov
Halloween is all about scares and treats, right? But apparently in Everglen, it's all about the scares.
I got scared 5 times while trying to get into the house. How absurd is that?! There's Della dressed up as IT chasing us as we tried to get in the house, and there's Alden dressed up as a serial killer with a super loud saw that makes a super loud noise which echos in the huge mansion. And don't even mention the decorations. The Vackers have the BEST Halloween decorations EVER!
There are cobwebs everywhere, mechanic spiders that crawl on the webs and weaving transparent plastic ones, ghosts that move up and down and follow you around the house as you go, chuckies that move once you get close to them, and a life sized haunted house. Marella got SUPER excited about it and wanted to go in.
"Guys.. I'm not so sure about the haunted house thingy.." Linh said, looking nervous.
"Me too, Marella maybe it's best to not go in?" I suggested.
No one replied for a while, the dimly lit room became darker as the moon got clouded over by the clouds, the giant clock on the side wall seems to tick louder and louder by the minute.. or is that just my imagination? I can't tell them apart now..
"I'm going to go get some drinks for you guys, just stay here okay?" Biana said, then walked away; only the echos of her heels are heard.
We all looked at each other, afraid that there might be anything suspicious happening. A loud crash cut us out of our imaginations. The vase on the giant creepy clock falled down by itself!
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!1" We screamed on top of our lungs. I could've sworn I heard someone snicker on top of us. I squinted my eyesight towards the ceiling but I had no luck, only to be blinded by the lights that have suddenly turned bright. Too bright.........
The clock suddenly make a loud clanging noise, signaling midnight.
"Didn't we arrive at 8:00?" Maruca asks.
"We did.. So this house must be haunted!!" Marella said excitedly.
I turned my gaze to the clock, the time does show that it's midnight. But it must be only 8:30 right now.. I check my watch, Yup, and it's not even 30 yet.
There's got to be something happening. A thought hit my mind as Biana came back, holding numerous cups of drinks.
