As Ethan's promotion at Solitech became official, he found himself busier than ever, but his mind was no longer focused solely on work. He had started keeping a detailed record of Jessica's activities, documenting every suspicious phone call, every late-night "meeting," and every piece of evidence that pointed to her affair.
He also began consulting with a lawyer—a discreet professional who specialised in high-net-worth divorces. Ethan's goal was clear: he wanted to divorce Jessica without losing his assets, and more importantly, without losing custody of Lily.
The lawyer, a sharp woman named Claire, listened carefully as Ethan explained the situation.
"You've done well by documenting her actions," Claire said, tapping her pen against her notebook. "But divorces like this can get messy, especially when there's infidelity involved. You'll need to play your cards right, especially if you want custody of your daughter."
Ethan nodded, his jaw clenched. "I'm prepared for that."
"Good. Because if this goes to court, Jessica will likely try to use your career against you—claiming you're too busy to be a full-time parent. We'll need to counter that by showing the court you've been the more stable parent in Lily's life."
Ethan's stomach churned. He had always prided himself on being a good father, but he knew he had let work take precedence over his family for too long. Now, it was time to make things right.
As he left Claire's office, Ethan felt a renewed sense of purpose. The pieces were slowly falling into place, and soon he would be ready to make his move. But until then, he had to keep up appearances. Jessica couldn't know what he was planning—not yet.
