A few weeks after settling into his new life, Ethan attended a tech conference in downtown San Francisco. It was a routine event, something he had attended countless times before, but this time felt different. Maybe it was because he was no longer weighed down by the secrets of his marriage, or maybe it was simply the fresh start he was embracing. Either way, as he mingled with colleagues and listened to presentations, he felt a renewed sense of purpose.
During a coffee break, Ethan found himself standing in line behind a woman who seemed oddly familiar. She had dark brown hair that fell in waves over her shoulders and wore a simple yet elegant outfit that caught his eye.
When she turned around, their eyes met. Ethan felt a jolt of recognition.
"Ethan Turner?" she asked, a hint of surprise in her voice.
Ethan blinked. "Samantha? Samantha Collins?"
She smiled brightly. "I can't believe it's you! It's been years."
Samantha had been a colleague of Ethan's years ago, before he moved to Solitech. She had left the tech world to pursue other ventures, and he had lost touch with her after she moved to New York. Seeing her now, here at the conference, felt like an unexpected twist of fate.
"What are you doing here?" Ethan asked, still processing the coincidence.
"I just moved back to the Bay Area," Samantha said. "I've been working on a start-up, and we're looking for potential partnerships."
They chatted for a while, catching up on life, work, and everything in between. There was an ease to their conversation that Ethan hadn't felt in a long time. When the conference break ended, Samantha handed him her card.
"We should grab coffee sometime," she said with a smile.
Ethan hesitated for a moment, then smiled back. "Yeah, I'd like that."
As they parted ways, Ethan couldn't help but feel a spark of something he hadn't felt in years—something new and exciting.
