Now let's get into the story
The towering gates of the Min mansion stood grand and imposing, a symbol of power that had spanned generations. Inside, chandeliers glittered like the wealth that seemed to define their family. But behind this gilded facade, the youngest son of the Min family, Yoongi, was nothing more than a black mark on an otherwise pristine reputation.
Yoongi sat in his room, the dim light from his window casting long shadows on the walls. His mother's voice echoed in his mind, always cold and biting:
*"You need to learn from your brother, Yoongi. Look at him—he's the perfect heir. And you? What do you do? You're nothing but a disappointment."*
He rolled his eyes and clenched his fists, the familiar frustration bubbling inside him. His brother, Min Jihoon, was already taking control of the family business, Min Corporation, a name that held power not just in Korea but globally. Everyone adored Jihoon—the perfect son, the flawless businessman. Meanwhile, Yoongi had long since given up trying to please anyone. His family had made it clear: he would never be enough.
What they didn't understand was that Yoongi had his own form of escape. Out on the basketball court, under the evening sky, he could finally breathe. As captain of his high school basketball team, he found control, freedom, and most of all, silence from the constant judgment. His two friends, Namjoon and Seokjin, were always there, understanding his unspoken thoughts, but even they knew better than to ask about the suffocating pressure he faced at home.
That evening, Yoongi grabbed his basketball and stormed out of the mansion, heading for the private court behind his family's estate. His steps were heavy, each one pounding with pent-up anger. Out here, he wasn't Min Yoongi, the "disgrace." He was the captain, the king of the court.
"Hyung, wait up!" Namjoon's voice broke through Yoongi's thoughts as he and Seokjin jogged up behind him. "You're heading to the court again, huh? You really need to get out of your head."
Yoongi snorted. "Yeah? Like I have a choice?" He spun the basketball in his hand, his expression sharp. "Let's just play."
As the three friends started their usual drills, the weight of his family's expectations faded into the background. At least for now.

Meanwhile, across town in the Park family's equally intimidating mansion, Park Jimin sat at his desk, staring at a mountain of textbooks. He'd always been the best student in his class—sharp, dedicated, and disciplined. But that didn't stop the ridicule, the bullying, especially from his older brothers. Park Hyunsoo and Park Jaehwan took every opportunity to belittle him. To them, Jimin was soft, fragile—a disgrace to the family name.
"You're such a loser, Jimin," Hyunsoo sneered earlier that day, shoving Jimin against the locker at school. "You think being top of the class means anything? You're still weak, still nothing."
The words cut deep, even though Jimin had heard them countless times. His brothers had always overshadowed him, their dominance crushing his spirit. His family was revered in Korea, with the Park Corporation being one of the largest conglomerates. But like Yoongi, Jimin was seen as the one who didn't fit. His brothers were leaders, businessmen, everything the Park family needed. And Jimin? He was just... quiet.
At home, it wasn't much better. His father rarely looked him in the eye, and his mother's love was conditional—measured by how well he could follow the perfect image they wanted for their youngest son.
The only solace he found was with his childhood friends, Jungkook, Taehyung, and Hoseok. Unlike his family, they accepted him for who he was—a bubbly, kind-hearted soul who just wanted to belong somewhere. But even with them, Jimin's insecurities were overwhelming. He'd lost the courage to speak out, to stand up for himself.
That evening, Jimin looked out the window of his large but lonely room. The world outside seemed so vast, and yet he felt trapped. His high school life was a mirror of his home—endless bullying, whispered gossip, and the constant feeling that no one took him seriously.
"Jimin, why don't you come down for dinner?" His mother's voice was cold, almost dismissive. He knew better than to expect warmth from her.
Sighing, Jimin closed his textbook and headed downstairs. The mansion was eerily quiet, the emptiness stretching through the long hallways. His family was waiting for him at the dinner table, his brothers already smirking as he sat down.
"Oh look, it's the genius," Jaehwan teased. "Top of the class again, right? Too bad that doesn't mean a damn thing."
Jimin gritted his teeth but remained silent. It was easier that way—easier than trying to defend himself and being shot down. His mind wandered to his friends, wishing he could be with them instead, in a world where he wasn't constantly compared or belittled.
---
On opposite sides of Seoul, both Yoongi and Jimin were trapped in the shadows of their powerful families. Both felt the weight of expectations crushing them, molding them into something they didn't want to be. And though they had never crossed paths, their worlds were more similar than they could ever imagine.
The night was still young, and while Yoongi lost himself in the game of basketball and Jimin drowned in the isolation of his mansion, the universe had something else in store for them—a meeting that would change everything.
