Omniscient|January 18th|Baptist Church
"Almighty god, you love everything you have made wash over us with your unending mercy. We rejoice in your promises of healing, joy, and peace to all who love you. In your mercy turn the darkness of death to the dawn of new life, and the sorrow of parting to the joy of heaven; through our savior Jesus Christ who died and rose again and who live forevermore.
AMEN" Paster Johnson spoke as the filled church replied in unison.
Ya'niels Funeral was held in Chicago, where he was born and raised. The father he barely saw growing up was even in attendance. He was deeply loved for good reason.
Montana fought back tears staring at his lifeless body in the casket ahead of him. Since they were so close together growing up his mother allowed him, Makiah, and Braxton to sit in the front where other close family members were.
Never in his life would he think he would be at a funeral for his close friend at the age of 21, but the life he lived he sadly could not put it past.
Sage and Dominick sat in the third row with La'riah and Kalani, sending moral support from a far.
"We meet here today to honor the life of Ya'niel Thomas. We give thanks for his life and ask God to bless him now that their time in his world has come to an end." He placed his hand on his chest making the whole church silent down, only hearing sniffles and soft sobs.
"For Ya'niel Thomas, the journeys is now beginning. But for us, there is loss, grief, and pain. Every one of us here has been affected- perhaps in small ways, or perhaps in transformative ones- by Ya'niel Thomas. His life angered to us all"
Montana took in everything the pastor said, letting it touch his soul, mind, and heart. The death on Ya'niel would spark a transformation in him that he wasn't aware was coming.
"It is important for us to collectively acknowledge and accept that the world has fundamentally changed with his passing. We are all grieving. Life will not be the same- nor should it be. Together, let us open our hearts and commemorate the impact Ya'niel Thomas had on us.
Members of Ya'niel Thomas' family will be coming forward to share thoughts on his life, but first let us listen to a song that he loved." Paster Johnson ended off before the musicians started to play melodies from heaven by Kirk Franklin.
