C/N, normally rude to most people, cares deeply for you and protects you at any cost. When it is just the two of you, he almost seems like a different person. He is from Spain so occasionally will speak Spanish, not knowing you know the language. You two get into an argument and he switches between Spanish and English. He's surprised how well you are about to keep up.

"Come on Y/N. Keep up," C/N said as we were walking the mile.
"I shall rip out one of your lungs so you can have asthma like symptoms for once," I glared at his back.
"If you keep up, I'll get you ice cream after school," he whispered.
"Alright, fine," I barely managed to keep up. After the mile, I went into the bathroom and changed into my school cloths. When I walked out, C/N was waiting by the door.
"You take forever," he whined teasingly and we walked to our next class. 5 minutes after the bell rang, a few girls from our gym class walked in.
"I don't take forever," he gave me a knowing look.
"Compared with them, no," we went through the rest of the day and I waited outside the classroom door for C/N.
"I'm not the slow one now," he murmured something in Spanish and we went to the shop across the street. He ordered the two ice creams and we walked home.
"I need something from my house and I'll be back," I went into my house and into the kitchen.
"C/N's coming by," mom smiled. I grabbed a few snacks and went upstairs. I put my earbuds in and started listening to one of my playlists. Senorita by Shawn Mendes and Camila started playing. I pulled up my laptop and started typing an assignment.
"What are you listening to?" I nearly screamed when my earbud was pulled from my ear.
"Don't do that," he started listening and he rolled his eyes.
"Shawn..."
"You've told me this before. You don't like this song."
"Senorita, you don't need this song playing if you want a Spanish influenced song," he picked up my phone and picked a song. I tried to not react when he called me senorita.
"Sounds like I'm in a Mexican restaurant. Do you want tacos?" He started talking quickly in Spanish. Don't ask me to translate. "Give me back my phone so I can do my work," he handed it back and I clicked on the playlist. I went back to my computer and finished my work. I put my stuff away and nodded my head to the music. My earbud was pulled from my ear and I sighed.
"Why do you like this song?" I looked back at him.
"You're not going to like my answer."
"I know I'm not. Why?"
"Justin Bieber (would not be my answer but it works)," C/N continued to looked at me. "Would you rather me listen to Shakira?" He put his head on the bed and sighed in defeat. "Just imagine if I was listening to this at your house," he shook his head.
"Mama would never allow you back," I smiled.
"Or if I brought tacos," he looked up at me, smiling slightly. "You know you love me," he said something in Spanish again. "What was that?"
"Nothing, senorita," we went downstairs and had hamburgers. Me and C/N sat outside to eat.

A few years later in December Y/N POV
It's a few years after we graduated high school and we're in college. I had started learning Spanish without C/N knowing. We had both just turned 21 and I was dating a guy we had gone to school with. After classes, me and C/N met up at the ice cream shop we used to go to in high school.
"It feels like forever ago that we would eat here after school."
"Yeah, after the mile or those huge math exams."
"Or after Jenny broke up with you," he looked down at his bowl.
"How's you and R/N doing?"
"He asked me to marry him,"there was a long silence.
"When's the wedding?"I held out my hand to him. "What do you want me to look at? There is nothing but your hand."
"I didn't say yes. I was going to break up with him anyway. I realized I couldn't see a future with him in it. One of his conditions to marry him was to give up our friendship."
"You shouldn't have turned away his proposal just because it would ruin our friendship."
"C/N, that wasn't the only condition. He didn't want me to work or continue with school. He wanted a wife to stay at home, have no friends, no life. He wanted a maid, a housewife. He's always been too controlling," C/N cupped my face in his hand and swept his thumb to catch a tear. "That's not me. Besides, I've found I didn't really like him as much as I had thought," I looked at C/N.
"Do you need a ride back to your apartment?" I nodded and we left the shop. We got into his car and he took me to my apartment.
"Thanks C/N," I went inside and threw a pillow across the floor. "Why can't I just tell him?"

A few nights later
I was up later than normal and I was working on a paper. I finally finished it and turned it in. I put everything away so it was ready for class in the morning. There was a knock at the door and I froze. I heard a voice speaking in rapid  Spanish about me.
"What are you doing here so late, C/N? Come in, it's freezing outside,"
"I'm sorry. Did I wake you up? I can come back la..." I pulled him into my apartment. I smelled alcohol on his breath.
"No, you didn't wake me up. You're drunk. Did you drive here?" He shook his head.
"My cousin drove. We were celebrating an engagement. Are you okay?"  I shook my head, still amazed he was here.
"Yes, C/N. I'm okay. Are you okay? You never drink," he looked confused. "I finished some homework when you knocked."
"Spanish?"
"What about it?"
"You can speak Spanish?"
"I've been trying to learn for a while now to talk to you and your family," he cupped my face in his hands.
"Say something in Spanish, Y/N."
"I've loved you for years, C/N, but never wanted to loose our friendship,"  I stepped back and he looked at me, stunned.
"I never thought you ever liked me back."
"C/N, why wouldn't I love you? You're amazing at everything you do. I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't like someone like me."
"Why wouldn't I love someone like you? You went behind my back to learn Spanish for me and my family. I know how hard it was for me to learn English. You are so beautiful and smart," he cupped my face between his hands. "And I would never want you to change," I leaned forward and brushed my lips against his gently. I heard a ringtone and I pulled away.
"Is that your phone?" He pulled out his phone and groaned. He answered and listened for a while and sighed.
"No, Mama. I didn't drive. Cousin/N did. No, I'm not. Okay, fine. I'll see you tomorrow,"  he sighed after he hung up.
"What's wrong?"
"Cousin/N told Mama that I was here and she thought I drove. I told her I was here and..."
"And?"
"She wants me to bring you for dinner tomorrow night."
"Sure. What's wrong with that?"
She's inviting the whole family."
"What's wrong with that?"
"They are a lot to deal with, loud, and crazy."
"Sounds like my family. I'll be okay. Besides, they don't know that I know Spanish," he nodded.
"Apologies in advanced for talks of marriage and children and how successful everyone is."
"I'm used to it. My family thinks I should be married already like my cousins," I smiled. "Do you want some food? I was going to eat before you came by."
"Y/N, it is after midnight and you haven't eaten. What have you been doing while not eating?" I laughed.
"I was working on a paper. Have you eaten?" He went quiet. "Exactly. I'll cook you up my favorite drinking food," I made the food and slid a plate over to him. He took a bite without looking.
"Tacos?  Why tacos? Why are they so good? Mama is going to be furious."
"She doesn't have to know, C/N. I'm glad you like them. I should bring some tomorrow," I laughed as he shook his head.
"Absolutely not. Mama would never allow me to keep you around," I went around the island and he pushed his plate aside.
"Im not going anywhere," I kissed him quickly. "Except to sleep. Do you need help to a room?"
"As long as I'm with you, (nickname) I'm okay," I helped him to the spare bedroom then went to my room to change into sweatpants. I opened the door and C/N was standing there.
"I was coming back," we went back to the spare room and went to sleep.

This was cute. I hope you all enjoyed it!
