You are a bartender. C/N is a regular and your best friend since middle school. One night, he comes in alone and drinks more than usual. Since you live in a small town, there aren't any taxi's or Uber to pick him up. After your shift, you take him to his apartment.

Does contain drinking

It was slow for a Friday night. I noticed a mop of familiar (hair color) hair. I smiled as C/N sat at the bar.
"Hey C/N. Where's your friends?"
"It's not our usual night so I came alone."
"Do you want your usual?"
"No, something stronger. I'll do a whiskey shot," something was wrong. I poured him a drink and he started a tab. I went in the back to look for another bottle for a different customer.
"C/N's here tonight," my work best friend BFF/N teased.
"I know. Something's off. He never comes alone."
"He will tell you. Your his best friend."
"I'm worried about him."
"Take his keys when he's not looking."
"That would be stealing even if we are best friends. I better go back and so should you," I fixed a few more drinks for C/N and other customers. C/N put his glass to the edge of the table. I refilled it.
"I broke up with (fiance). She was cheating on me with Jared. I'm going to have to call everyone I invited, caterers, the florist, even the bakery," he sighed," he drank the glass down quickly. I refilled it again.
"I'm sorry, C/N."
"No, I should be sorry Y/N. I'm keeping you from your job."
"I'm not alone tonight and we aren't too busy. How are you getting home tonight," he shrugged then handed me his keys.
"For safe keeping."
"I get off in 10 minutes. Can I drive you home?"
"What about your car?"
"BFF/N drove me. I had car trouble and it's in the shop," he took a drink.
"Do you normally take home regulars? Sorry, that sounds wrong."
"I won't be working in 10 minutes. I'll be taking a friend home," he smiled. I served a few more people and closed out C/N's tab. I clocked out and made sure BFF/N would be okay until Shay came in. I found C/N and helped him out to his car. I drove him to his apartment and we went inside.
"Thanks for bringing me home. You can sleep in the guest room," he went to his room and I fixed me some food. He came out in sweatpants and an old t-shirt. We ate in silence. I cleaned up the dishes and turned. C/N was propped up on his arm and starting to fall asleep.
"C/N. Your falling asleep," he murmured something and I sighed. I grabbed his office chair and rolled it into the kitchen. I carefully set him in the chair and wheeled him into his room.
"I'm not asleep," I got him into bed and put the chair back in the spare room.
"Go to sleep, C/N," I went to shut the door.
"Wait," I smiled and walked over to the bed.
"Yes C/N?"
"Can you stay? Like when we were kids?"
"I'll be in the guest room," he took my arm.
"No, here. "
"Scoot over," he did and I laid down beside him. "Get some sleep, C/N."

The next morning C/N POV
I woke up with a pounding headache. I saw some pain medicine and a glass of water on the nightstand. I took the medicine and went into the kitchen to make some coffee. I noticed a pot was already made and a plate of eggs and bacon was made.
"I didn't know when you would be up so I made some breakfast," I fixed some coffee and sat beside Y/N on the couch.
"Thanks Y/N," she had a notepad and was writing something down. "What are you doing?"
"I was making a list of who you needed to call to cancel the wedding stuff. I was going to help by calling the businesses and let you call your family," I smiled at her.
"I don't deserve a friend like you," she shrugged.
"It would take you a day or two. Just wanted it to be less of a issue for you after yesterday. Besides, it's my day off," we started making calls. I got off the phone with my sister and I checked Y/N's list. She was calling the bakery.
"The lady at the bakery said they can't cancel the order. They have it ready for pickup today," she handed me the phone and I talked to them.
"Okay, I'll be over to pick up the cake at 12. Thanks," I hung up and shrugged. "Sounds like we are getting a wedding cake. "
"Good thing the wedding is canceled. Bridezilla would have freaked out that the cake was ready a week before the wedding," I smiled.
"Are those my cloths?"
"I took all of my stuff home after you and bridezilla got together. "
"She never came over so I don't have to give her anything back. Let's go pick up the cake," we went to the bakery and the woman smiled when we came in.
"Are you two picking up a wedding cake?"
"Yes," I nodded.
"When's the wedding? You two are adorable together," me and Y/N looked at each other confused.
"Is your order C/N?" Another woman asked from the back.
"Yes. "
"He was the one who called earlier. His wedding is canceled," the girl winced.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean..."
"It's okay," Y/N said. I picked up the cake box and we went to the car. "I was expecting a 30 tiered cake with sparklers, flowers, and a music box," Y/N held it as I drove us back to the apartment.
"It's the one decision she allowed me to make. She paid for it without seeing it," we went inside and I put the cake in the fridge. "I think I'll invite my parents for dinner to break the news to them," she nodded, distracted. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine,"  There was a knock at the door and we both went to answer the door. I saw it was BFF/N, Y/N's coworker. "I'll see you later."
"Are you going back to your apartment?" She nodded. "Can you come back?"
"Yeah, I'll come back," she followed BFF/N downstairs.

Y/N POV
I had received a text from BFF/N saying she picked up my car.
"I think I'll invite my parents for dinner to break the news to them," I nodded. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine,"  There was a knock at the door and we both went to answer the door. It was BFF/N. "I'll see you later."
"Are you going back to your apartment?" I nodded. "Can you come back?"
"Yeah, I'll come back," I followed BFF/N downstairs and to my car.
"Spill. What happened? Did you..."
"No, I did not. He just broke up with his fiance he was going to marry next week," I told her what happened last night, this morning, and at the bakery.
"You two have always been mistaken for either siblings or dating," I was quiet. "And you did borrow his cloths."
"Habit. I'm going to return them once they are washed," we went into our apartment and I started a load of laundry after I showered and changed cloths.
"Are you going back?"
"Yeah. He's invited his parents over to tell them the news."
"And he wants his best friend over there when he does? We all know his parents love you and they have never liked his fiance."
"Wait, how do you know they love me?"
"It's obvious. His mom wants to hang out even when you distanced yourself because his fiance was paranoid even when they were just friends. His dad and sisters keep trying to get you to come over when she was there. They even got his older brother to date you to get all four of you under one roof and jealous over the winter break when you got snowed in. "
"How do you know this stuff?" She shrugged.
"His brother told me. He liked you but really wanted you and C/N to get together," I got ready to leave and left the apartment.

C/N POV
My parents came over and they asked me how I was and how work was going. They were purposefully avoiding talking about the wedding which I was grateful. There was a knock at the door.
"Probably (fiance)," dad said when I left the room. Y/N stood there and I smiled.
"You are just in time. You can throw those on the bed," she threw the cloths she borrowed in my room then greeted my parents. We sat at the table and began to eat.
"So how's the wedding planning?" I looked at Y/N and she squeezed my hand under the table.
"Canceled. We aren't getting married. I found out she was cheating and called everything off today," she got up and we cleared the dishes.
"Best thing about the whole thing is we got free cake to celebrate," Y/N opened the box.
"Free cake?" I explained and mom laughed.
"Revenge is sweet," we ate the cake and my parents left.
"Do you want to split the rest of the cake and wine?" She shrugged and poured us some more wine. I cut a slice off.
"You aren't even going to split the cake?" I held the bite out to her. She ate it then took the fork from me. "It was a very good cake," I shrugged.
"I made a good choice," she smiled and I noticed she had frosting on her cheek.
"Cake, yes."
"Dating, not the best so far," I wiped the frosting away with my thumb. "Y/N?" She hummed, busy cutting another piece of the cake. "Do you know why I started dating her?"
"No, that's for you to know."
"You and my brother were getting close because me and her became friends. I only asked her out to try to forget my feelings for you."
"BFF/N told me your brother started dating me to get you jealous and me to realize my feelings for you. Not that it would take much," I cupped her cheek in my hand.
"I've loved you for years, Y/N and never thought you would ever like me back."
"Me too, C/N. I didn't want to ruin our friendship," I pulled her to me and she tasted of wine and (favorite cake flavor). She wrapped her arms around my neck and I pulled her into my lap. "I love you, C/N," she murmured against my lips.
"I love you too, Y/N," she giggled and I raised and eyebrow. "is the bartender struggling with her alcohol?"
"One, we don't necessary have to drink a lot, especially not on the job. Two, not drunk yet."
"Can you stay the night?"she smiled.
"Can't drive home in this state," we put the remaining wine and cake in the fridge and she went into the bathroom. She came out in a different shirt and pair of sweatpants.
"What was wrong with the cloths you brought back from yesterday?"
"They didn't smell like you," she went towards the spare bedroom.
"Are you going to bed?" She yawned in response. "Wrong room," she looked confused. I took her hand and led her to my room. "If you're okay sleeping in here," she laid down next to me and she wrapped her arms around me.
"Goodnight C/N," I kissed her temple.
"Goodnight (nickname)," she dug her face in my chest and I held her close.

This one was cute. I hope you all enjoyed it!
