tutoring

Two teachers asked you to tutor students and you agreed. Turns out to be the same student. C/N is four years older than you and took a year off for military. You also didn't realize that he is your best friend's brother until after the tutoring.
You visit BFF/N during winter break and they are both at her house.

"Here are some practice worksheets for him to practice with," my art teacher explained then went into the classroom. A guy sat by himself and turned when the door opened. I'd recognize that arrogant... "He needs to be up to date with the rest of the class before our next test in three days. Think you can manage?"
"I'll do my best," the art teacher left and I stood in front of C/N.
"Great to see you again, sweetheart," I glared at him.
"One, stop with the names. Two, this is three days so don't be difficult. Got it?"
"Getting feisty now, aren't we?"
"Wrangling cows and being a dentist for cats is easier. Where do you want to meet?"
"My dorm will work. What times?" I gave him the times and he agreed without (much) complaining. I went to my next few classes and then my last class.
"Can I talk to you after class Ms. L/N?"
"Sure," the rest of class went good. "What did you need to ask me?" I noticed C/N had also stayed behind.
"I have finished grading those tests and C/N is falling behind again. Can you help him get the grade back up before our next test a week from yesterday?" I nodded and he gave me the assignments. We left his room and C/N fell in step with me.
"I'm just waiting for more of my teachers to tell me you are tutoring me."
"We only have these two classes though."
"That wouldn't stop them."
"Are you struggling in your other classes?" He shrugged.
"Not as much as these two. History is close too," I nodded, remembering how that class was last semester.
"I'll see you tonight then. I'll think about the rest of the week," he nodded and we went to our cars, which where right next to each other. He left first and I texted BFF/N about today.
Once I got to my apartment, she called and we talked about school and such until I had to leave. I drove over to the boy's dorms and found his room number. I knocked and someone opened the door.
"Lookie what we have here," R/N grinned at me taking a drink from the bottle in his hand.
"I'm looking for C/N. Is he here?" He smirked and pointed down the hall.
"To the right. I didn't know he had company tonight."
"A tutor actually," I went inside and rolled my eyes. I knocked on the open door and he looked up from the desk.
"Make yourself at home," he gestured around the surprisingly clean room. I went to the empty desk and saw some finished worksheets. I checked the answers and saw they were correct.
"You know the content?"
"Are you that surprised?"
"Kinda actually. Why are you struggling?"
"Don't like the teacher or tests. She assumes that since I'm just here for a degree and going back to military after that I'm difficult compared with the other kids. She's not entirely wrong," he handed me another correct worksheet and switched to math.
"What about math?"
"Never could wrap my head around this stuff. This was the only course left and I didn't think it would be so bad. Turns out I was wrong and this is one of the higher level classes. I still can't believe you are a freshman who willingly took this class," I shrugged and put the art assignments back in the folder. "Yea, this already doesn't make any sense," I scooted over and looked at the question. I explained the questions and he slowly started to understand.

"So how was last night?" I woke up to BFF/N calling. I didn't remember driving home or falling asleep.
"It went good. He'll be okay for art but at least I have a week for math," we talked for a while more then I got ready for class. I left then sat through the lecture. The teacher finally dismissed us 10 minutes late and I walked out of the classroom. Someone pulled me away from the exit and I glared up at C/N.
"How did you know I was here?"
"Good to see you too, sweetheart. Can we do our tutoring at your place? You saw the brief reason why last night," I agreed and went to leave. He pulled me back and a line of students filed out of the classroom.
"How did you know?"
"Military, I guess," his gaze fluttered from my eyes and I left the building. I only hoped I was hallucinating.

An upper class man friend of mine was graduating in December and I went to the ceremony. I watched for a while.
"C/N M/N L/N," I watched as he walked across the stage and I smiled.
Later I went to my apartment and the door was unlocked. I frowned and heard something fall. I went inside, grabbing the first weapon-like thing I could find, and into the kitchen.
"What are you doing here, BFF/N?" She smiled when she saw me.
"I was going to surprise you. Whats with the bat?"
"By making it seem like someone broke into my apartment? "
"Oops.  Did you go to the graduation?"
"Yeah, F/N graduated."
"Awsome. You coming over at least sometime during the break?" I nodded.
"Of course I will," she left a while later.

I got up, at a reasonable time that they might be up by, and went over to BFF/N's parents house. I knocked and her mom immediately pulled me into a hug inside the house.
"You'll freeze to death one of these days Y/N. I've made breakfast already," she went upstairs and I went into the kitchen. I hugged BFF/N from behind and she drank her coffee.
"I told you it's a college student's best friend."
"Other than you of course," I sat beside her and I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. We stared eating and two chairs were moved.
"Can you pass the ketchup, C/N?" He mom asked and I looked up. He passed the ketchup and I noticed BFF/N was smirking.

"When were you planning on telling me?"
"I don't know. This was comical though," she giggled. "And then you were tutoring him too. It's all funny. Do you want that jacket back? It's in my closet," I walked over and the door shut behind me.
"BFF/N? This isn't funny."
"Keep quiet a moment, will you," her door opened.
"When were you going to tell me?"
"About what, C/N?"
"Y/N is your best friend?"
"Has been since at least kindergarten.  You would have realized sooner if you had been home when she was here. Why do you care who I'm friends with all of a sudden?" I heard him mutter something and she giggled. "I can't understand you C/N. Why do you care?"
"I like her."
"Is that why you were embarrassed by your roommates?  Or jealous?"
"I hate that you can still read my mind. Where did she go anyway?"
"I don't know, I guess the bathroom. Let me know when lunch is ready," the door shut and BFF/N let me out of her closet.
"How did you know he was going to come up here?"
"I guessed right. What did you think of our conversation? "
"That I unwillingly overheard? Confused," she threw her hands up and fell onto her bed.
"You both are oblivious. Perfect for each other but oblivious."

I went downstairs after dinner into the screened in porch and sat on the couch. Something moved and I looked at the other side.
"C/N, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there and..."
"Its alright Y/N. I just wanted to watch the sun set."
"Me too," I hugged my knees to my chest and we sat in silence for a while. "BFF/N lied to you earlier. She hid me in her closet," he looked over at me.
"I should have known. Now you probably hate me and..."
"I don't hate you. I like you too, " I looked back outside and C/N got up to sit next to me. He looped an arm around me and I laid my head on his shoulder.

BFF/N POV
"Y/N, C/N? Where did you guys go?" I walked into the screened in porch and looked around. I peeked over the couch and saw C/N asleep with Y/N curled up on his chest. They had a light blanket over them so I grabbed a quilt from the living room and threw it over them.

I woke up with the sun in my eyes. I turned on my side and felt something on my shoulder.
"What the?" I turned my head and felt stubble against my cheek. "C/N?"
"Your awake," he murmured. His arms tightened around me and I ran my fingers through his hair. I pressed my lips against his and I felt him smile.

Took me a while to finish so I'm done with it now. I hope you guys enjoyed it!
