Chapter 12: Revealing Secrets

(Colleen's POV)
"Hey Colleen, I'm in the hospital right now. I've been having horrible stomach pains lately. I went to the doctor and they told me my appendix was about to burst. I'm about to have surgery, and-" Josh said but I cut him off.
"SURGERY? I'll be there soon," I said.
"No, enjoy camp, you can come tomorrow," he replied.
"No! I need to be there!" I told him.
"Come tomorrow, Colleen. The kids need you. Tell them before they go to bed that you won't be there the next day."
"Fine," I said.
(Ava's POV)
I was worried about Colleen. Once I saw her hang up the phone, I acted like I didn't see.
"Hi Colleen!" I said once she came back.
She smiled and said, "Hi!"
We were dancing again. Although I did notice that something was wrong. She kept staring into space and looking at the ground. Then, the song All of Me came on. Tears rolled down her face as it reminded her of Josh.
"Are you okay?" I asked her.
"Yeah, these are happy tears," she assured me.
We danced for a while until we were all tired. Rachel took the megaphone.
"Attention everyone! Don't forget to congratulate Ava on her recovery! Good night!" She announced. Then, she walked over to me and congratulated me.
As everyone walked back to their cabins, I noticed Colleen and Rachel talking. I saw Colleen hug Rachel and it almost looked like she was crying in her shoulder. I kept walking. I changed into my pajamas in the bathroom, brushed my teeth and washed my face. As I was crawling into bed, Colleen walked in.
"Hey guys, I just wanted to say goodnight and tell you that I'm not going to be here tomorrow," Colleen said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Josh is in the hospital because his appendix was about to burst and they had to take it out of him," she explained.
"Is he okay?" someone asked.
Her eyes started to tear up. "I...I don't know."
I came down and hugged her. Ariana gave her tissues.
I started to cry a little. I looked up at her, both of us still crying. "Don't worry," I said. "He'll be okay."
"I love you Colleen," I said.
"I love you too," she tried to say.
Ariana and I went back to our beds. "Goodnight," Colleen said.
"Goodnight," we all replied.
I cried some more as everyone else fell asleep. I was thinking of Colleen. I hate seeing her cry. And I'm pretty sure everyone else does too. I silently cried as I slowly drifted off to sleep.
(Colleen's POV)
After I said goodnight to every cabin, I walked back to my cabin and put on my onesie. I laid down and started to think about Josh. I couldn't sleep. I decided I was going to go to the hospital.
