Colleen's POV
We spent the whole day working out boring details with the adoption, playing board games, and talking about life. Learning more about her made me even more excited about being her future mother. However, camp had been coming to an end. In just two days, camp would be over. It was bittersweet. I'd had all the kids give me their social media handles, so I could still stay in touch with them. Ava was the only one I'd given my number to.
That night, Ava went back to her cabin to sleep. She'd told me she wanted to spend as much time as she could with the kids before they'd all have to go back home. She didn't tell anyone about the adoption because even though she'd met these kids and talked to them over the summer, she didn't know them; she didn't know if they'd be jealous or anything. You never know.
The last couple of days included lots of clean up... and swimming. There wasn't much to put away with the pool, so it was still pretty much the same as it had been the whole summer, unlike the sports places. All the sports balls had to be put away, so there wasn't much to do in that department. Craft supplies were packed away, too. We had to get as much stuff out of the way so we could leave quickly after everyone else on the last day of camp. We only kept out the necessities.
The night before the final day, I was very emotional. I felt nervous, worried, and upset. I didn't want to say goodbye to the summer that changed my life completely. Whenever I have such major emotions, I feel like I need to get everything out. So that night I decided to tell my mom about the adoption. She was very surprised, but she was super excited and supportive.
As for Ava's parents, we decided we were going to tell them on the last day. That way, Ava could come in my car, and we'd follow her parents to the house. Then, we'd sort everything out there. I'd meet her siblings, they could start packing, etc.
I woke up the next morning feeling very excited. The last day of camp. Wow. Judging by my emotions the night prior, I expected to be more upset, but I had gotten it all out that night. I was just excited by the morning. Rachel made breakfast for everyone, and we had our last breakfast together. Then, we had another "meet and greet" kind of thing, like we did on the second day of camp. Except this time, it was to say goodbye one on one. It was sad, but it was great because I'd gotten to know these kids as people, and not just people who watch my videos. It was really cool. But saying goodbye was hard.
Afterwards, it was time for everyone to leave. And time for me to break the news to Ava's parents.
