Day 6 October 2nd: Misidentified Species

hello, your friendly neighborhood dryad here to say, that I have no plan whatsoever for this so hahaha modernish au connected to 1 and 3.

Pearl was walking home in the day for once. Since it was day, she didn't expect a pair of glowing eyes or her brother to kidnap her and drag her into and alleyway to ask if the power was on.

Pearl was warm enough in her grey hoodie in the fall air. The crisp leaves crunched under her feet and she could smell a faint scent of apple pie. She loved fall.

She had already decided and made or bought parts of her Halloween costume, because she was definitely not too old for Halloween. You can never be too old for Halloween.

For Halloween this year, Pearl was being an evil version of herself. She was going to wear her regular clothes, curl the ends of her hair, wear a red cloak, bring her wolf dog Tilly, and have a battle axe.

Pearl noticed a faint meow coming from the alley that Grian hadn't kidnapped her in. She cautiously walked closer, not really scared but more like she didn't want to scare the cat.

She walked further into the alley where she saw a large calico cat with a twisted foot. Pearl quickly scooped up the poor cat and brought her into her house.

Back at Pearl's house, she had locked away Tilly and her other cats, so as not to overwhelm the calico. She realized the cat's twisted foot was just dislocated and it wasn't broken. 

'This is only going to hurt for a minute, then it will be better ok?' Pearl said to the cat even if she couldn't understand her. Pearl knew it was a bad idea to fix the cat's leg here but she didn't want the poor thing to have to be hurt anymore.

(I need to add this: DON'T RELOCATE A CAT'S SHOULDER OR FOOT AT HOME! also don't abandon your cat on the street, they get hurt that way, and it's really sad to see) 

Pearl quickly pushed the joint back into place, and luckily it worked. The cat made a sharp cry but then quickly realized she was fine. 

'See? You're okay.' Pearl said soothingly while stroking the cat's fur. 'Stay right here.'

Pearl got up to go make a little bed for the cat, she made it out of a box on it's side, with a pillow, and soft fuzzy blankets. Then, she came back downstairs to find that the cat hadn't moved. She picked up the cat and brought her to her new bed and set her down in it.

'Do you like it?' She asked the cat which sort of responded with a meow that was almost human-like and a slight dip of her head. That slightly surprised Pearl, but it could have just been coincidental that the cat dipped her head and may have just meowed because Pearl spoke.

Pearl went to bed after filling the cat's bowl and Tilly and her cats' bowls. She made sure there was fresh water in all of the animals' bowls before changing into pyjamas and going to sleep.

Pearl dreamt about a person with pink hair and then the cat.

When Pearl woke up, she noticed the cat was sitting in her bed, watching Pearl. The cat meowed then left then left the room. Pearl followed.

The cat went downstairs and into her main room. Pearl watched the cat turn in a circle and meow at her.

'What?' Pearl asked the cat.

Then, suddenly, the cat did a very not cat-like thing. The cat's fluff began to turn to pink hair, and the cat grew in size before a lady with pink hair, a blue dress with white trim, and blue eyes was in front of Pearl but she was still shorter.

'I wanted to thank you for relocating my shoulder.' The woman said. 'My name is Lizzie, and as you can probably already guess, I can turn into a cat.'

'Oh! You're welcome, it was just the right thing to do. And hello, I'm Pearl.' Pearl responded to Lizzie.

'Nice to meet you Pearl, I hope we can be friends.' Lizzie said to Pearl, her eyes kind of sparkly.

'That would be fun. Would you like some tea?' Pearl asked.

'Yes, do you have Earl Grey tea?' Lizzie asked and Pearl only then noticed her British accent.
