"Some promises just aren't worth keeping" He shrugs his shoulders in response. "Where's the man himself? I thought he'd be here to save his little angel"
"Let's go" Boti Lwande nudges me. "Awuyi ndawo naye" (you're not going anywhere with her) "Says who? We're not your sons, we don't take orders from you"
"I didn't expect all of you to show up, but luckily for me, I get to hit four birds with one stone" He shrugs. "S'bhamu, mthathe..."
(Take her) In a matter of seconds, guns are pulled out and I'm being shoved onto the floor with Boti Mixo covering me.I scream, covering my ears and eyes as gunshots fly across the room. I watch as bodies drop to the floor around me. The gunshots stop and I sit up, watching as they all surround him with their guns aimed at him.
"I'll never agree to die at the hands of you three bastards!" He groans in pain, clutching onto his wounded arm. "You don't have a choice, tell us what you want" . "Msu—" He's cut off by a similar voice.
"Step away from him" No... "What type of fu—" Boti Mixo clicks his tongue in annoyance. "Mama" I whisper. She has a gun to her head. "I swear if you touch her, I'll shove that gun down your throat and suffocate you with it!"
"Step. Away. From. Him... Or she dies, your choice" He gritts out. "Bhuti" I rapidly blink, backing up into a corner. They slowly step away from him, lowering their weapons. "Let her go" They demand.
"You're in no space to make demands" He stalks towards me. "Mhm mhm" I shake my head no, moving back into the wall. He hesitates. "Mthathe marn Nkululeko!" His father orders. My pleas fall into deaf ears as he drags me up from the corner, pulling me with him.
"Uyangilimaza!" (You're hurting me) I shout, fighting against his grip. "Mama!" I reach out for her but she's shoved towards Boti Lwande within a second and I have a gun digging into the side of my temple. "Mihlali!"
I'm dragged out of the school premises with his wounded father being carried out by one of their men. I'm thrown into the back of a van and it drives off. I pull off my necklace, securing it around my thigh before activating it.
I hide it using my skirt.

I silently sit on the bed, staring at the locked door. I've been locked up in this room ever since I got here. I haven't eaten or had anything to drink since a few hours ago, my throat feels dry.
The door is unlocked and he steps in with a tray of food in hand. I don't even bother to look at him, his mere sight makes me nauseous. "Nkululeko" He won't even look me in the eye.
"Ngiyaxolisa" He huffs out a breath. "Why?" I sniffle. "I'm sorry" He repeats. "How could you?! You promised" I wipe away my tears. "Mpilo was right about you" I say when he doesn't reply.
"Don't" He gritts out. "He warned me about you— everyone did, But I trusted you and let you into my life, I let you into my heart!" I snap. "Mihlali, Ngiyaxolisa"
"Dont! You've been apologizing this entire week, I'm tired of you! I just want to go home... Please" I beg. "I'll come and check up on you later" He walks out, closing the door. I don't even cry, I just scoff in pure anger.
How could he?!
"Nelisiwe marn!" I can hear them arguing out there. "Who the heck did you and your father take this time?" She stands outside the door. "It's none of your business, move!"
"Don't shout at me like I'm a little child, who's in there!" They start screaming at each other. She manages to push him out of the way and enters, her eyes widen in horror when she spots me.
"Mihlali" She gasps. "I'm sorry" Tears cloud my vision. "Nkululeko how could you?! You promised me not to... You said that you'd stay away from her" She takes a step closer to me.
"Nelisiwe, get out" He mutters. "Does Mama know about this?" She questions him. "Let her go, Nkululeko" She orders. "Get out!" He snaps. "Over my dead body!" She screams and he scoffs.
"I swear if you touch me I will pull your eyes out of their sockets" She threatens when he tries to move closer to her. She quickly helps me up, dragging me along with her, leading me out to a different room.
"Mama..." She calls out to the lady moving around the kitchen. "Mhm" She answers without turning to face us. "They took her" Nelisiwe confesses. "Your brother and father know not to disobey my wishes" She confidently replies.
"Turn around and see for yourself "She dares and the woman slowly turns around, widening her eyes in response. "I'm goo to kill them" She whispers to herself. "Sweetheart, did they hurt you?" I rapidly shake my head no.
"Make yourself comfortable, I'll fix this" She wipes her hands before walking out of the kitchen. "I'm really sorry about this " Nelisiwe says. "It's okay " I genuinely answer.
"You're probably going to hate me after this... it's not the first time it's happening and it won't be the last" She sighs. "I'm not going to hate you, you're my best friend, Neli... you knew nothing about this"
"Thank you" She pulls me in for a hug and a sad smile pulls onto my face.... She's definitely going to hate me when she finds out. "Do you need anything?" She asks. "Just a change of clothes" I stare down at my stained uniform.
"I'll be right back" She excuses herself. "Mihlali" I freeze. "Stay away from me" I breathlessly whisper. "Ngiyaxolisa" He utters... the nerve of this boy! "I have absolutely nothing to say to you"
"Please listen to me" I turn away as my eyes start to water. "You used me" I state the obvious. "I love you and I'm sorry, I was trying to tell you but I couldn't". "You love me?" I scoff. "Yes"
"And to think that I loved you too" I gritt out. "Loved? You can't deny the fact that you do love me, Mihlali... and Nelisiwe's not going to stop me from proving that to you, what we had- have is irreplaceable. You can't stop the connection that you and I have built in the past few months" I dryly swallow.
"You love him?"
