12 years back..
The sound of bouncing basketball echoed in the court , the sun casting long shadows over the court. The 15 year old Vaishnavi stood by the sidelines with her best friends(Trisha,Nitika and Mishti), her eyes glued to the game. Among the players, one figure moved with silent precision—Krrish, two years senior to her, leading the game with a calm yet commanding presence. The basketball court buzzed with the intensity of the game. Krrish, with his cold focus and unwavering precision, dribbled the ball down the court, eyes scanning for an opening. His teammates fell into place, but they all knew—when Krrish had the ball, it was his moment.
With a sharp pivot, he cut through two defenders, his movements quick and decisive. In a fluid motion, he surged forward, taking the ball to the rim. His long stride carried him effortlessly as he leapt, the ball arching toward the backboard in a perfect layup.
The ball sank smoothly into the hoop, barely grazing the net. He landed without fanfare, his expression unreadable as he turned back to reset for defense. The crowd erupted, but Krrish remained cold and focused, as if the play was just routine.
From the sidelines, Vaishnavi couldn't tear her eyes away from Krrish. His layup was seamless, almost effortless, as if he barely had to try. Her heart skipped a beat as he moved with such quiet confidence, commanding the court in a way that left everyone else in the background.
Vaishnavi (thinking to herself):
"How does he make everything look so easy?"She felt the familiar flutter in her chest, the same one she'd had since the first time she noticed him. He didn't just play basketball—he owned the game. But it wasn't just his skill that captivated her. It was the way he seemed so... untouchable. He never looked to the crowd for approval. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, watching as Krrish jogged back down the court, his expression as unreadable as ever. Even in that moment, she wondered what it would take to break through his wall, to understand the boy behind the cool, distant exterior.
The game carried on, but Vaishnavi's mind was elsewhere—still fixed on Krrish. He didn't glance at the crowd, didn't acknowledge the admiration of his teammates. He was always like that, distant, as though nothing could touch him.
Vaishnavi shifted uncomfortably, aware of her racing thoughts. She tore her gaze away from the court, trying to focus on something, anything else. Nitika nudged her with a teasing smile on her face.
Nitika (playfully):
"You've been staring at him for like, twenty minutes. l woner if you will ever get enough."Vaishnavi blushed, quickly averting her eyes.
Vaishnavi (defensive):
"It's just... he's good at basketball."Her friend smirked, clearly unconvinced.
Trisha (teasing):
"Right. Basketball."Vaishnavi rolled her eyes but couldn't help stealing another glance at Krrish as he called out instructions to his teammates, his voice low and commanding. There was something about him, something that drew her in despite the invisible wall he kept around himself.
