Dakotas POV❤️
The reception has been filled with laughter and dancing. "Dakota sweetheart, we've missed you!" Jamie's mother, Evelyn a beautiful grey short haired woman with chestnut eyes, comes to hug me. "Oh you look so beautiful. How was Europe?" She asks.
I smile heartily. "It was great but it's good to be home, Ms. Kasey."
"He was so excited when he told me you were coming. He's missed you. You shouldn't stay away so long." She says seriously but still smiling.
I nod with a straight smile. "Yes ma'am. I think I've done enough traveling the past 2 years. I'll be here for a while." She cups my cheek and smiles and then walks away.
I walk up to the complimentary bar and get the attention of the bar tender. "Do you have anything non alcoholic?" I ask and he nods putting a cup of ice and sprite on the bar top. "Thanks." I open it and then pour it in. I let it fizz down and take a sip.
"Not partying it up?" I turn to the unfamiliar voice and see Raven in her reception dress. A white long laced sleeveless strapped dress that fits every curve on her just right making my mouth water. God shes beautiful.
I smile and chuckle. "Uh no. I've been sober for 2 years now actually." I say taking a sip of my sprite.
She makes a face of surprise and I laugh. "Well congratulations but is there a reason why?" She asks. It's nothing bad but drinking the entirety of college makes you rethink that choice outside of it. I stopped to clear my mind and my art has gotten so much better because of it.
"It tastes way better." I say and she nods laughing. "So, you married the guy who once wet himself when he was almost hit by a run away bicycle." I joke and she laughs.
"Oh god really?!" I nod. "Well, should I be looking forward to your speech?" She asks.
"Uh not if you still want to be married to the guy." I say in a serious tone but joking.
"Ooph that bad huh?" She says with an amused look.
I shake my head. "No I've already embarrassed him enough with the bike story." I say.
"Well he speaks very highly of you, Dakota." She says genuinely and her eyes drop and then reside back to mine. "So far he hasn't disappointed." I smile and go to say something but Jamie walking up and wrapping his arm around her waist stops me.
"Don't go telling her that babe, she'll get a bigger of a head then she already does under all that hair." He jokes ruffling my long loose black curls.
"Get off asshole. You're lucky it's your wedding otherwise I'd kick your ass!" I say pushing his hand away. He laughs and I see Raven smiling at our interaction. "Besides, you talking about me isn't anything new, I'm awesome I can't help it." I shrug with a smirk.
He rolls his eyes. "Yeah yeah. You're a freelance artist who gets to travel the world while I stay in the states and deal with criminals every day and have to convince the jury they're not angels." He says sarcastically.
"You're a lawyer Jamie and a fantastic one at that. That's one reason why I fell for you so much. You're passionate about everything you do." Raven says and kisses him.
"Thank you baby. You make me feel like a superhero." He says smiling down at her. I love how they look at each other. Just pure love in real life. It feels surreal.
"Well not all heroes wear capes." I say and he smiles and nods.
"Can we have the bride and groom to the table so we can start speeches from your family and friends?" Kim calls on the mic.
