(Chapter one)

It was my first day at UA, I honestly didn't know what to think at first. (beep) The only thought in my mind was that I wasn't good enough to be there. (beep) I mean UA, the school of pro heroes, the people with a talent to save people. (beep) They chose me. (beep) Could I really be someone that saves lives? (beep) After about 5 minutes of my alarm going off in the background of my thoughts, I roll over to turn it off. But of course, my quirk activates. "Again?" I sigh to myself and throw it into the pile of other used alarm clocks.

I got up from my bed and started to look around for wherever I threw my uniform the day before. My eyes dart to my chair with all my clean laundry on it and I start digging through the pile. "Finally," I exclaim. My uniform was at the bottom of the pile, I quickly put it on and took a glance in the mirror. It looked like it fit, but the shoes given to me might be too big for me to fill. I did think I looked good though, I was kind of proud of myself for even making it this far. I did a quick pose and left my room.

I dragged myself to the bathroom to do my morning routine, 1. brush my teeth (of course I did this after I ate), 2. put on deodorant, and 3. I tackle the main problem, my hair. I wanted to do my hair differently for my first day. I feel like taking inspiration from my favorite hero would make me feel more confident. I took the gel off the sink counter and start making spikes out of the strands of my hair. After I was done, I looked in the mirror and smiled. I actually felt cool for once.

I left the bathroom and walked into the kitchen to find my mom making breakfast. It smells like bacon and pancakes. At least, I think so. I don't really have the best sense of smell. I give my mom a kiss on the cheek, "Oh, good morning bunny. How did you sleep?" her eyes moved to the top of my head, "Oh, I see you changed your hair, you look very handsome". She smiles at me, then gestures to the pan, "Also, it's a really big day, sooooooo...... drum roll please" I sigh, she never continues what she's going to say unless I do. (drum rolls) She grins, "I made you your favorite breakfast! Pancakes!". She broke out into a smile, but I didn't have the heart to tell her I like Ozoni the best. However, pancakes are a very close second.

I smile, "I slept very well mom and thank you for making breakfast. But you know I'm actually kind of nervous to start my big day". I break out a laugh, and she smiles at me with a hint of sorrow in her eyes. I know what she means when she looks at me like this. I attempt to reassure her, "But I'm really excited to start my hero training". The distress leaves her eyes, and she actually smiles this time with no hint of worry. "Okay bunny, just make sure to eat your food before you leave. And I mean ALL of it, mama worked hard on it". We laugh as she sets two plates full of food down on the table. I thank her for the food and chow down.

I get up from the tatami mat and thank my mom for the delicious food again. She grins, "You're welcome bunny, I hope you have a good day at school!" I make my way towards the door and sit down at the entrance to put my shoes on. I grab my bag off the floor and turn the doorknob. Suddenly, I feel someone hug me from behind. "Eijiro... I really do hope you have a good day at school. Just call me if you ever need a break from it, okay?". I turn my head around, the look in her eyes spoke words she didn't have to. I reciprocate her hug, "I promise to call you if I ever need a break mom". She locks her eyes with mine and makes sure I really mean what I'm saying, "I promise mom". She smiles at me, "Have a good day at school bunny, don't be late". I finally leave my house and close the door behind me.

My walk to school wasn't you know, terrible. But I wouldn't call it good either. I took all the shortcuts and alleys to avoid certain people, but my luck always out runs me. "Hey Kiri!" I look behind me and see the exact group of people I never wanted to see again in any lifetime. "Oh, hey guys". My eyes start darting around to find any sort of escape I can attempt. I came up empty handed. "Dude, it's been so long. What've you been up to? Holy shit, is that a UA uniform? You're telling me YOU got into UA??" I honestly wish I pretended that I didn't hear them, "Yeah I got in". They continue to look me up and down. After a minute of us just exchanging glances, they grunt, "Hey you know everything in middle school was just a joke, right? Like we were just kids, it's all in the past now anyways". To be honest, I couldn't even tell who I was talking to anymore, their voices just started to blend together. "Yeah guys, I get it. It was just us playing around. But I have to get to school, so let's just talk later".
