Caitlin Foord stood in the kitchen, sipping her morning coffee, as sunlight streamed through the large windows of the apartment she now shared with Katie McCabe. It was still early, the quiet hum of the city just starting to pick up. Moving in together had felt like a natural next step, though no one outside of their closest circle suspected that their bond was more than just roommates.

Katie wandered in, her hair tousled, still in her pajamas. She shot Caitlin a quick grin and headed straight for the coffee pot, brushing past her lightly as she went.

"Morning," she mumbled sleepily.

"Morning," Caitlin replied, her eyes following Katie with an affection that remained unspoken outside their shared walls.

To the world, they were simply teammates, friends who happened to live together for convenience. It was easier that way. Between training and games, they'd become inseparable, but when anyone asked about the move, it was always practical reasons-closer to the training grounds, splitting rent, and all that.

But in these quiet moments, when it was just the two of them, it was different. Katie caught Caitlin's gaze over her coffee mug, a soft smile playing on her lips. No words were needed. It was in the way Caitlin made sure Katie's favorite cereal was always stocked, and the way Katie left Caitlin little notes before away games.

"Think they'll catch on soon?" Katie asked, leaning against the counter next to her, their arms brushing.

Caitlin chuckled softly, shaking her head. "Not unless we want them to."

The outside world didn't need to know, not yet. Here, in this space, they were free to be themselves, no labels, no questions-just them.
