Chapter 8.

Beep* Beep*

It's 2 am in the morning when l look at my phone. Presha is calling when l answer it

"Presha!" I say "Do you know what time it is?"

"I am running away from this wedding; I don't think I will be able to get married but I don't know where to go"

"Presha are you sure?" I ask

"I cannot get married to him; I don't want to marry him; I will lose everything if l marry him" Presha says

"Presha are you sure you are not drunk" I ask

"I am not" Presha says "I am in the car right now as we speak and l am about to get onto the highway to go to Goa"

"Presha goodluck" I say

"I want you to know; because l know you knew everything" Presha says

"Presha what will you do because it's only a matter of a few hours before they find out that the bride is missing" I say

"I will not marry him; you are right some things are not worth it at all" Presha says

"Good luck and keep me posted on all that happens to you" I say

We both hang up when l sit on my bed at night.

I still don't have Ranch's number but I will tell him tomorrow

The early morning comes when I go for my dance class early in the morning. I don't know why but the love for dancing. I lay back on the cold floor which calms me down.

"You know something crazy" Ranch says and l look up and see him looking at me.

" Actually I really want to say one thing; you have to stop just walking in on me"

Ranch comes and sit by me when we look at each other.

"She escaped that wedding" Ranch says

"I know that; she called me last night and told me about her leaving her parents house; if you ask me she finally grew a backbone and she is finally getting that she deserves better"

"She really is" Ranch says

"Do you think her parents know she has run away" I ask

"Actually let us go to Kashmir for the weekend" Ranch changes the subject

"Kashmir!?!"

"Yes actually I have a little house their and l want go stay for a few days"

"I would love to but I cannot stay their actually my father is a little strict now" I say

"What?" I really wanted to go with you to Kashmir

"My father will never allow us to breathe the same air; didn't you see how he was and you want me to go on a trip with you" I say

"Oh come on now why don't you tell him it is a friendly get together" Ranch says

"Like he would believe that" I laugh

"Talk to your mother then" Ranch says
"Come on Manna it's worth a try don't you think?" Ranch says

"Okay fine l will try to ask my family to allow me; but don't we have a "wedding" to get ready for" I say

I get out the dance studio when l get home.

"Presha has run away from her wedding so their is no wedding" Mama says

"Good for her if I was her I would do the exact same thing" l say

"What do you mean? What do you know that we don't?" Mama asks
