Chapter 15.5: Fork in the warpath

Cross loitered on the couch, somehow injured from his battle. He encased the X-Knife into place, wanting to rest. This whole tussle to save the multiverse was getting to him. Sans walked toward him, a simple question on his mind:

''so how you doing?''

''pretty shit'' Cross responded.

''yeah, I know'' Classic!Sans spoke. ''you know, normally I wouldn't really care much. Normally I'd just let things play out until I have to do anything because it's just gonna change somehow in the end. But this is drastic, and even I have to step up''

''well, your right about one thing, and that's having to fight back against stupid ass X!Gaster'' Cross chuckled, holding on his wound.

X!Chara floated beside him, a curious expression on his face. ''but what would we gain from nothing?''

''honestly, that's a really good question in all fairness. If we did nothing, we'd gain nothing. But th answer is all too simple, so we can't just do nothing'' Sans spoke. ''besides, how'd you get the skull crack?''

''let's just say I tried to kick Nightmare's ass. I made it out, but I got scathed real bad.'' Cross explained, holding his head where the crack was.

''what am I gonna do If I'm just hanging out like the ghost I am?'' X!Chara showed off his annoyance at his lack of doing anything at all.

''seems like your gonna have to be in my place in this war until I'm healed'' Cross said. X!Chara only nodded, then he summoned the X-knife for brief showing. Then he went toward Dream for directions.

Then Sans nudged his head, and asked Cross ''have you ever wondered about this whole multiverse shiz?''

''well, yeah... Ink has told me about this sort of thing long ago'' Cross heavily spoke, a small smile.

''you've known him so long, huh'' was Sans' response.

Cross began to continue to lay there, to rest.

But he could return.... But how long would he heal for?
