Gift exchanging | Chapter 3

- Narrators POV -

Today was colder than yesterday, it's starting to be winter. Scraps put on her favorite jacket and went to go check on Goob like she always did before school. "Goob, are you ready yet?" She asked, noticing him packing a gift in a small bag. "Hmm? I wonder who's that for?" Scraps said in a teasing tone as she walked over to Goob. "It's not like that!" Goob called out. "Me and Shrimpo were calling yesterday and we agreed to exchange drawings of us with each other." Scraps went silent for a second. "YOU GOT HIS NUMBER?!" She exclaims in disbelief. "Yes I did, isn't that what all friends do?" Goob says cluelessly. Scraps shook out all the weird thoughts. "Actually yeah, that's what friends do."

Goob gently picks up the drawing of him and Shrimpo to show to Scraps. "Look at that! Isn't it pretty?" Goob says proudly. Scraps smiles at the drawing. "Yeah, you've gotten so good at drawing!" Scraps peeks in the small bag and sees a bead sticking out. "What's that other thing you've got for Shrimpo?" Goob puts his hand in the bag, and takes out a bracelet that looks exactly like the one he wears everyday. "I made him a matching bracelet!" Goob says, warmly smiling. Scraps giggled. "That's cute! Do you think he'll wear it?" "Uh.. I'm not sure, but I hope he does." Goob says determinedly. "Let's get going now!" Scraps says as Goob follows alongside her outside.

The chilly breeze hits their faces as they walk out. "It sure is getting colder." Scraps said. "When it starts to get colder, it reminds me of Christmas!" Goob says cheerfully. Scraps laughed. "Sure, whatever you say." Once they reached the bus stop, Goob looked over at Scraps. "See Shrimpo there?" Goob whispers, "Watch how his mood changes when I talk to him." He quietly walks behind Shrimpo who is currently sitting down on the bench, and hugs him from behind. Shrimpo quickly looked behind him furiously. "GET THE F-" He immediately softened as he realized who it was. "..oh it was you. Hi Goob." Shrimpo mutters with a small frown. "Hi Shrimpo!" Goob giggles. Scraps was flabbergasted, she wondered what he did to make that shrimp so nice.

- Goob's POV -

I was happily warming up Shrimpo with a hug, when I suddenly remembered about his gift. "I brought you a gift!" I say as I took it out of my backpack. Shrimpo's eyes twinkled as he stared at it. "Thank you, Goob." He says blankly as he holds the gift. I sat next to him to watch his reactions closer. He took out the drawing first and looked at it with a faint smile, which was absolutely adorable!! Shrimpo then took out the bracelet. He looked at the one at my wrist, then up at me. "You made me one to match with you?" "Yea! Friendship bracelets." I say. Shrimpo puts the bracelet on, it hiding under his long sleeved shirt. "I'll try to wear it when I can." Shrimpo uttered. I smiled ear to ear. "Aww you will? Thanks Shrimpo!" I say as I hugged him once again. He sat there quietly with a small frown, but didn't complain.

That fishbowl from yesterday started to walk towards us. I released Shrimpo and sat up straight. "Hello there! My name is Goob, what's your name?" I greeted with a smile. "My name's Finn! And that's my best bud Shrimpo." Finn beamed. I swear, Shrimpo gave him the dirtiest look ever. "If you say one more stupid joke I'll actually fight you." "Hey, why so seal-rious? Haha!" Finn laughed. Shrimpo slowly stood up from the bench and almost charged forward, but I pulled him back into a hug. "Come on Shrimpo, violence is not the answer." I told him. Shrimpo grumbled and stayed quiet, letting me hold him. I think he's secretly touch starved, he always lets me hug him! "Hehe, you really like hugs don't you?" I teased. "SHUT UP BEFORE I FIGHT YOU TOO!" Shrimpo yelled. He then went back quiet and pouted. I laughed as I continued to hug him. Hehe.. he's so cute, I just might like him.

- Narrators POV -

Brightney arrives at the bus stop and Scraps waved to her. "Hey, do you think Shrimpo and Goob look cute together?" Scraps asked. Brightney looked over at Goob hugging Shrimpo. "They look so good together oh my gosh!!" Brightney exclaimed. A tissue box comes from behind them. "Oh hey Tisha!" Brightney waves. "Are you guys talking about those two over there? I don't know, Shrimpo looks pretty awkward with Goob." "If they get together, you owe me 100 ichor. Deal?" Scraps mischievously said. Brightney looked weirded out. "Cut it out, toons are staring at us!" Brightney whisper-shouted. "Uhh, ok then it's a deal." Tisha hesitantly agreed. "I'm about to be rich." Scraps confidently says.

At the school, Goob, Scraps, Brightney, and Tisha were sitting down at a table. "Goob, me and Brightney have a question to ask you." Scraps announced. "What is it?" Goob smiled. "Are you planning to go out with Shrimpo anytime soon?!" Scraps and Brightney say at the same time, their eyes glistening. Tisha sighed. 'All they want is to watch gay stuff.' She thought to herself. "Uh..." Goob thought to himself, "I don't know, maybe? I have mixed feelings." "Well, your big sis can help you out whenever!" Scraps reassured. The bell rang and they went to their classes.

Goob and Scraps walked in and sat in their assigned seats. Goob smiled as Shrimpo walked in. "Hi Shrimpo!" Goob happily said. "Hi, Goob." Shrimpo says back as he sits down. "Quiet down class, I have an important announcement." The teacher announces. "Tomorrow we are going to the aquarium to study the ocean life as a field trip." The class cheers. "Isn't that so exciting Scraps!" Goob asks as he turns to Scraps. "I love fish!" Scraps happily says. "Oh— but don't get too hungry ok?" Goob giggled. He then turned to Shrimpo. "Are you excited?" Shrimpo looked like he was deep in thought about something, but shook his head and looked at Goob. "A little." Shrimpo answered. The teacher hushed the class once again. "You will be getting in groups of 4 to study each of the following areas your group will be assigned. You may find your group now."

Everyone got up from their seat and started to find their group. Goob brightly looked at Shrimpo. "Let's be in a group together!" "Ok then." Shrimpo agreed in a blank tone. "Scraps, you too." Goob said, turning to her. Scraps nodded. "Hmm, we just need one more.." Goob looked around the room, and noticed that Finn was in here. What a surprise! "Hi Finn! I didn't know you were in here." Goob said. "Yeah, they switched my class for some reason." "Well, would you like to be in our group?" Finn glanced over at Shrimpo who's currently frowning at him. "Of course I'll be in your group!" Finn beamed. "Ok we have 4 now, so we're done." Goob concluded. "Did you really have to get that idiot in the group.." Shrimpo mumbled angrily to him. Goob leaned towards Shrimpo. "It's ok Shrimpo, it's good to socialize with people you don't know much about. You might be friends with him, just like I did to you." Goob explained with a small smile. Shrimpo looked away, reddening.

"Ok class I will now pass out your areas where you are going to study with your group." The teacher explained. The teacher placed the paper down on Goob's desk. "Let's see, we are going to research clownfish and jellyfish!" "We should go in pairs." Scraps suggested. "Good idea, I wanna go with Shrimpo to study jellyfish." Goob said as he glanced at Shrimpo. "Ok, I guess I'll go with you.." Shrimpo says. Finn and Scraps looked at each other and smiled mischievously. "Ok, then me and Finn will go together to study the clownfish." Scraps decided.

- Time skip to when they got on the bus -

Goob and Shrimpo sat next to each other on the bus once again. "I'm so excited for tomorrow! Do you like aquariums?" Gook asks enthusiastically. "I like them." Shrimpo says with a faint smile. 'Wow, he actually likes something.' Goob thought. The bus eventually arrives, and all the toons exit the bus. "See you tomorrow, Shrimpo!" Goob says with a warm smile, the sun perfectly hitting his face. Shrimpo stared at Goob for a moment. "Yea, see you tomorrow." Shrimpo walked away, his face slowly growing a smile.
