Baking contest | Chapter 6

- Narrators POV -

The toons gathered around in the kitchen. "I have a fun idea!" Scraps started, "We should split up into 2 teams and have a baking competition!" "Ooh, that sounds fun." Brightney said. "But we have 7 people." Tisha pointed out, "Should we wake up toodles?" "It's ok, Shrimpo counts as 2 people since he's good at baking." Goob confidently stated. Scraps almost started to smile like a crazy person but stopped herself. "Ok then, there will be one team with 3 and one team with 4." Scraps confirmed. "I call to go with Shrimpo!" Goob exclaimed. "I wanna go with him too!" Finn added. Shrimpo looked happy, then disappointed.  "Fine, I guess.." He grumbled, not wanting to make a big scene in case if they move him to the other group. "Alright, I'm with Scraps, Brightney, and Tisha!" Poppy happily said. They went into a circle and put their hands in together. "Let's all do our best!"

"Wait, what does the losing team get?" Goob asked. "Uh.. Oh I know! The winning team could do face paint on them and they will have to walk in public." Scraps announced. Everyone laughed and then began to look serious. The two teams huddled in their own circle. "If we lose, it will be so embarrassing since I made the punishment." Scraps worriedly mumbled. "Should we make cupcakes?" Brightney suggested. "Sounds easy enough." Scraps agreed. Tisha then looked confident, "If there's anything to clean I'm an expert at that!" "You can clean the dishes after then." Poppy joked. Tisha sighed, "Uhh.. ok then! Let's get to work!"

"Shrimpo, your the leader here since your better than then us two. What should we do? What are you good at baking?" Goob hurriedly questioned. It sounded different from how Goob usually talks, so it kind of spooked Shrimpo. "Uhh... cookies I guess. I make them with Toodles sometimes." Shrimpo replied. Goob and Finn looked at each other, then grinned. "Oh my cod! That's so sweet, I didn't know Shrimpo cared about little ki—" "SHUT IT. My aunt forced me to." Shrimpo crossed his arms with his usual frown. "Ok, what's the ingredients for it?" Goob asked as Shrimpo took out his phone. "Here." Goob and Finn stared at the recipe for a minute. "Ok, Finn go get two eggs, I'll go get flour!" Goob says as he went to the pantry. Shrimpo went to go pre heat the oven before the other team could take it. Goob went back over to Shrimpo and noticed him rolling his sleeves up. He saw him wearing the bracelet he gave him. Goob leaned in towards him and whispered, "Hehe.. so you do wear it." Shrimpo's face reddened as he turned away. "I said I would wear it when I can.." Shrimpo mumbled. "Hmm, ok then!" Goob then went to go help Finn crack his eggs. 'That was too close.' Shrimpo thought to himself, sighing.

After 1 hour, Shrimpo's team was done. "Yay, we're done!" Goob cheered as he held the plate of cookies. He looked over at her sister and noticed her team wasn't done yet. "Brightney I think you burnt it.." Scraps nervously opened up the oven, and the cupcakes were surprisingly ok. "Phew! I thought with your cooking skills it would burn down the house." Scraps joked. "They're not that bad." Brightney sighed and walked over to the tray, "Now we just need to put frosting. Poppy are you done?" "Yea I'm done, I wanna do it!" Poppy said as she happily walked over. She carefully did it to not make any mistakes, and they actually looked good. Scraps held the plate with their cupcakes proudly. "Ok, now we're done too!" "Who's gonna judge it?" Brightney asked. They all looked over at the sleeping Toodles.

"So Toodles, while you were napping we baked some stuff for you! Can you try them and tell us which one is better?" Poppy kindly asked. "Of course!" Toodles enthusiastically agreed. She first tried the cookies, and then immediately looked over at Shrimpo. "Shrimpo, did you make these?" Toodles giggled. "Yeah." Shrimpo responded, looking away. "I knew it, I recognize these!" "Awwww—" "SHUT UP!!" Toodles then tried the cupcake, and then went silent for a minute. ".. It's good!" "Uhh.. so Toodles, which one is better?" Scraps asked. "Hmmm... sorry, I can't decide they're both so good." Toodles answered in a disappointed tone, "What about you guys try them and see which one?" They all went silent for a moment and tried their own. "... I think I have a bad one." Tisha muttered. "Bro why is it salty, who was mixing it?" Scraps questioned. They all looked over at Brightney. "Uhh... wasn't me!" "COME BACK HERE!!" "Toodles, did you not taste the salt?!" Poppy worriedly asked. "Haha, I just didn't want to mean." Toodles laughed. Goob ran over to Toodles and went on his knees. "So does that mean we win?!" Goob excitedly asked. "Yea you win!"

Goob and Finn were jumping around in a circle cheering while Shrimpo just stared at them. "What in the world..." Brightney ran back to the kitchen with Scraps still chasing her. "STOP IT!" Brightney begged as she gave up and fell on the floor. "Scraps.. you lost! I'm gonna paint your face." Goob mischievously said. "No no no no nooo!!" Scraps yelled as Goob chased after her. "... What is wrong with this house." Tisha sighed, looking over at Poppy and Toodles. "Hehe, look Tisha! I'm finished painting Poppy's face." She made her face every color of the rainbow with eyelashes and lipstick. Tisha giggled a little, but then noticed Toodles angry face. "Don't laugh at my art skills! You're next!" Toodles bursted out, making Tisha sit on a chair. She made Tisha look identical if not worse than Poppy, then painted Brightney's face. "Wow, so beautiful!" Toodles happily complemented them. Goob walked out with Scraps, her face looking worse than all of them. "I absolutely CANNOT walk out looking like this." Scraps grumbled. "This was your idea, now come on!"

They walked into a supermarket and made them dance in front of random people. After what seemed like an eternity they walked out. The sun was almost fully down. "Oh my gosh I'm never going in there again." Scraps angrily mumbled. "Should we sleep when we get back?" Goob asked. "If you want, I'm gonna stay up for a little." Brightney answered. They reached the house, washed their faces off, and sat down on their sleeping bags. Toodles was already asleep. "I'm gonna turn off the lights." Scraps announced, turning the switch off. Shrimpo almost completely covered himself in his blanket and tried to go to sleep. "Goodnight, Shrimpo." A familiar voice whispered. Shrimpo jumped and turned around, seeing Goob looking at him while lying down. Goob smiled and closed his eyes, not saying anything else. 'He's been acting so close with me lately.' Shrimpo thought to himself. He closed his eyes and fell asleep, the two of them facing each other. 'Oh would I have something to tell Scraps...' Brightney mischievously thought.
