I was sitting in front of the mirror all dressed up in my gown.
The veil covering my view. I held my bouquet and waited to be called.
The door opened.
"Allora, it's time. Let's go." My father said opening the door. I nodded my head and got up. I stood and waited for the doors to open. I couldn't help but, feel pain. I sighed as I stared at the ground. I heard the doors open. I heard the people gasp and my father lead us down the aisle. I didn't want to look at him. If I did I'd break down in tears and I wouldn't be able to hold it in.
We reached the altar and my father gave my hand in his. I walked up the steps and stood in front of him. The priest started the ceremony.
"If anyone should object to this wedding speak now or forever--" "I object!" There was a loud bang of the doors opening. People gasped. I stared at the ground. "Mr. Melton?" "Pete?" My dad called out my brother's name. I looked up. I saw my brother standing there with the police behind him. "What is happening?" my mom asked looking at the police. "That man is a fraud." My brother said. I looked at Charles in shock. "What?" "His company is bankrupt and he has been laundering money. His plan to marry is only to get citizenship here and slowly take Allora's money too." My brother said. "Recently he made a scheme for senior citizens in Jeju Island and has scammed them." I was shocked at what was happening. "Did she put you up to this?" My mother asked. "What?" my brother asked. "Is this something Allora asked for to avoid getting married?" My brother scoffed. "Are you being serious. I was able to save her before she gets dragged or involved in his crimes!" My brother told my mother.
"And who told you run a background check on him?" My dad asked. "No body told me to check him. It was already done." "So the police approached you?" "No, I did." I looked at him shock.
Chris.
"What are you doing here?" My mother spat venomously.
"Saving the love of my life." He answered. I couldn't believe anything that was happening.
"Why is he the one you are listening to?" My mother asked. "Maybe because I have had enough of you guys deciding what is right for Allora. I sat back and kept quiet because I am not her parent. But, this... marrying her to a man she doesn't know, doesn't love and is looking to make money off her hardwork I can't do that. She has worked hard to reach where she is. She has worked hard to be able to come to you and ask that you accept their relationship. She loves him and I am not going to stand in the way of her happiness. Are you?" My brother asked.
My dad sighed, "He is right. She hasn't been herself for a long time. She tried to hide it back when we first told her to break up with him too but... he makes her happy by just being in the same room. Have you seen her eyes light up when anyone else walk into the room. Her smile doesn't reach her eyes when she is with us. We are hurting her and I don't think I want to do it anymore." He told my mother. "But..." "I would not have been able to forgive myself if I gave her away to someone else. As I walked down the aisle I felt like I was dragging her their against her will and it is against her will. She is grown up, she is independent and he is a good person. If they love each other they should be together." I was touched by my father's support.
