I was enjoying the scenery while sitting on the boat when Ash joined me. Even now, I couldn’t look directly into his eyes. We talked throughout the entire ride until we eventually reached the island he had mentioned. It was beautiful and peaceful there; I could hear the birds chirping happily all around us. We walked around the island, but after a while, I started feeling thirsty.
“Mmm... Ash, I’m feeling thirsty. Do you have any water?” I asked.
“I’m also feeling thirsty, but I forgot to bring any water,” he said, scratching his head nervously.
“Oh, okay, never mind,” I replied, walking slowly.
“There are coconut trees here. If you want, we can drink some tender coconut water,” he suggested from behind me.
I stopped and turned around. “But how are we going to get the coconuts?” I asked.
“I’ll climb the tree,” he said confidently.
I spun around quickly and replied, "What if something happens, Ash? I don’t want you to get hurt," feeling a bit worried.
He gave me a small smile and said, “Nothing will happen, Serena. Have faith in me,” before starting to climb the coconut tree.
I stood there, surprised. Oh my God! He was so good at this. He climbed the tree within minutes, grabbed a coconut, and slowly made his way back down. As he was climbing, his muscles flexed, showcasing his well-defined body. I gulped hard and looked away. Soon, he came toward me and handed me the coconut with a straw.
"Drink as much as you want. I'll go get another one," he said.
I nodded and started drinking the water. It was sweet. Honestly, it had been years since I last had tender coconut water. I savored every sip, enjoying it thoroughly.
Ash's POV
After giving her a coconut, I climbed the same tree again, grabbed another one, and slowly came back down. Upon landing, I unknowingly looked at Serena, who was savoring the coconut water. She looked so adorable, almost like a baby. Everything about her has been unexpected. I expected her to be rude, but she is the complete opposite: sweet and cute. Wait, what am I thinking again? Serena and her cuteness.
Why am I always lost in thought about her when I’m not doing anything? Because you like her.
Shut up, conscience. I know I can never like her. But the reality is that you do like her, Ash. 😏
You just shut up. You're messing with my mind. Whatever, Ash, but you can't change the reality, which is that you like Serena.
I growled and shook my head, trying to shake off those thoughts, and concentrated on drinking the coconut water. It was indeed sweet. In a few minutes, I finished my coconut. I looked up at Serena. She had finished hers a long time ago and was examining the different kinds of plants. She seemed to have an interest in exploring things just like I do.
"Serena, let's head back. It'll be dark soon," I said.
"Okay, Ash!" she replied.
We started making our way back to the ship. Once we were on board, we sat in complete silence. It was already late evening, and the sun was halfway set. It was starting to get cold.
"Amm... Ash, I'm feeling kind of cold. AACHHUU!" Serena suddenly sneezed and started shivering. I didn't have a jacket, nor did she. So, I moved closer to her and wrapped my arms around her.
"I don't have a jacket, Serena. If you don't mind, this might help a little," I said.
She nodded in agreement and snuggled into me, hugging me tightly. I let her snuggle in as much as she wanted. She soon dozed off in my arms. I don’t know why, but I laid my head on hers. Her hair was soft and silky. Suddenly, I felt an urge to run my hands through her hair, but I stopped myself. Then I thought of what my conscience was telling me.
I've indeed been thinking about her since last night. Even now, I can't stop staring at her. She is just so cute that I can’t look away. Her sweet gestures and childish behavior that I noticed today captured my attention because, despite being a famous fashion icon, she didn't flaunt it. She treated me just like I had seen her treating her friends at school.
After almost an hour, we reached back at the dock. I woke her up, and we got off the ship. She stood there while I tied the boat.
"Amm... Ash, thank you. This was amazing! I hope we can go on such adventures again," she said, tucking some strands of hair behind her ear.
I smiled softly and replied, "Yeah, it was quite amazing. And thank you too. It was fun talking with you. It's already late, Serena. I think you need to head back home. It's not safe for you here."
She nodded with a soft smile, waved a quick 'Bye!', and headed toward her car. I stood there waving until her car disappeared, then headed home. Today was indeed unexpected. I think I misjudged her. She is nothing like I had thought. I believe I might already like her. Let’s see how this goes. Dawn is going to be so happy to hear this.
Serena's POV
As I drove home, I started recalling the events of the day. My previous dates with Calem paled in comparison to this one. It was amazing and refreshing. Ash was fantastic; he made me laugh with his jokes and surprised me with his knowledge. I also noticed that we shared many interests, such as exploring, learning, and challenging ourselves. He had always been quiet, but today I got to know him a bit better. But, wait, what am I thinking? I shouldn't be focusing on Ash like this, right? Yet here I am, unable to stop. I shook my head at the thought, a small smile creeping onto my face despite myself. If this keeps up, I might actually fall for this guy. Oh God, what do I do?
