Ash's POV

After attending my last period, I hurried into the cafeteria. Everything was ready, and I was waiting for Serena to show up. A few minutes later, Serena walked in with a strange expression on her face. I held up the poster that read, "Roses are red, violets are blue. Do me a favor, can I go to prom with you?"

She looked completely blown away. Slowly, she walked toward me, and I could see happy tears in her eyes. She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could speak, a voice interrupted, "Oh my, Serena, you did it! It's so cute!" We turned around to see Miette walking in our direction.

"Not the place to interrupt, Miette," Serena said, but Miette didn’t budge. She stood right in front of me. "So, you’re Serena's boyfriend, Ash Ketchum? Congratulations, dude! Your girlfriend just won a bet," Miette said with a smirk.

I was totally confused. "Shut up, Miette!" Serena exclaimed. What was going on? A bet? "What is all this, Serena? What bet? Am I missing something?" I asked, my brow furrowing with concern. She was about to respond when Miette interrupted again.

"Oh, you don’t know? Serena, didn’t you tell him? If that’s the case, let me clarify: your girlfriend here placed a bet that she could make any guy her boyfriend. And you just ended up being the random guy she picked," Miette added, smirking. "Don’t you feel special?"

What? This couldn’t be true! Serena would never do something like that. I trusted her. "No, she’s lying, Ash! Don’t believe her!" Serena said as she held my hand. I nodded, gripping her hand tightly.

"Oh, but I’m smarter than you think," Miette shot back, pulling out her phone. She played an audio clip of Shauna and Serena discussing how Serena had made a bet to save her channel. I couldn’t believe my ears. She did something like this?! My God! She fooled me. Here I was, thinking she actually liked me. What a fool I was to fall for her act.

I immediately let go of Serena’s hand. She looked into my eyes, pained. "So, I was just a bet? I thought you genuinely liked me. I should have known better. I guess this was all too good to be true," I said in a low voice before turning around and walking out of the cafeteria without even glancing back at her. She betrayed me.

Serena's POV

"Guess this was all too good to be true," he muttered and left. He didn’t look back once. "Ash, no!" I shouted, but it was no use. I fell to the ground, tears streaming down my face. I knew this would happen. How could she do this to me? That witch! What would I do now? How could I tell him I never intended to break his heart? How could I express my feelings? He would never forgive me. Never.

I cried even harder, thinking of all this. "Oh, that was so embarrassing," Miette said with a victorious smirk. "But I’m a lady of my word. I’ll take responsibility for that video so you can have your followers and sponsors back." I didn’t respond and ran out of the cafeteria. Maybe if I tried hard enough, I could explain everything to Ash.

I searched for him everywhere and finally found him in the art class. "Ash..." Before I could say anything, he picked up his bags and started to leave. I grabbed his arm and begged, "Ash, please, listen to me, I didn’t..."

"Enough, Serena! I’ve had enough," he snapped. "I don’t want any of your rubbish now. You broke my trust. You tricked me. You’re a witch! I hate you!" He freed his arm from my grip and walked away. His words cut deep, stabbing me like a knife. I broke his heart. He hates me now!

I rushed out of there as fast as I could. I called Shauna and told her everything. She tried to console me, but nothing worked. I had lost him. He hates me now. I can’t live without him. He is my everything. But he probably will never feel the same about me again. I deserve this. I should have told him the truth sooner.

That night, I went home and cried in bed. I got all my followers and sponsors back, but I didn’t care anymore. All I cared about was his feelings, and I had lost him—forever...
