In the quiet garden filled with blooming flowers, red roses stood proudly, their petals shimmering in the soft light, Bahameen sat on a bench, surrounded by the beauty of the flowers. The scent of roses hung in the air, a bittersweet reminder of love.
That fills the heart with warmth or kills a person's soul.
That's what has happened to her, thoughts drifted to a love that felt like a distant dream, unfulfilled and aching. Memories from the past are all tainted by the weight of unspoken words.
She was reliving everything.
The garden which was once a place of solace now felt like a prison of longing and broken dreams.
Just then a familiar voice broke the silence.
"Why do you sit here alone?" Her friend, Aina approached with concern on her face.
"I came to see the roses" She replied, eyes still on the flowers.
"At this time. Why?" Aina looked around, it was getting dark with each second.
"They remind me of everything" She mumbled.
"Of what?" Aina asked gently, sitting on the bench next to her.
"Of love" Came the soft answer, tinged with sadness.
"But it feels so far away, like a dream I can’t reach even if I try so hard I can't reach his heart" She looked at her friend with hollow eyes.
"He wronged you Bahameen!" Aina couldn't stop herself from getting furious on his name.
Bahameen just smiled at her sadly.
"Do you really think it can happen? Or are you just waiting?" Aina sighed, sensing the deep hurt.
"I am waiting" She whispered, fingers brushing the petals of a nearby rose.
"But waiting feels like forever. I wanted to tell him how I felt, but I was afraid he would push me away" She pressed the rose petals between her thumb and finger.
"Afraid!!" Aina didn't like it.
"Afraid to lose" Replied with a breaking voice.
Aina took a deep breath, searching for words. What happened wasn't easy to forget but Bahameen wasn't even ready to forget him.
"Look at these roses. They bloom despite the thorns. Maybe you need to take a chance. What if the love is real? What if it’s waiting for you, just like you’re waiting for it?" Aina didn't know why she said this but she wanted to enlighten Bahameen's mood even if it cost a big lie.
For a moment, silence enveloped them. She gazed at the roses reflecting hope and desire, feeling the weight of longing lift just a little.
Perhaps love, though unfulfilled, still had a chance to bloom.
The garden, once a place of solitude, now felt alive with possibility. And in that moment, Bahameen decided to embrace the unknown, ready to take the first step toward love.
That has shattered her soul.
