"Bahameen" Ghazan's voice filled with anger and annoyance. He stood outside the dimly lit room, the loud music spilling into the hallway. His gaze fixed at people who weren't in their senses, drowned in alcohol.
He knew she was different from the other girls, she was bold and always challenging the old ways but every time he saw her in such a state he disliked her more.
She was the center of attention, wearing a bold dress. The spaghetti straps and v neckline gave a glimpse of her cleavage. Her dress stuck to her body like second skin.
For a moment, Ghazan's eyes met the floor in shame.
Literally every man standing there was watching her with lust in their eyes.
He had this sudden urge to pull out everyone's eyes who were staring at her. His fingers curled into fists.
Taking a deep breath, he walked in.
The room was filled with laughter and the smell of drinks. Bahameen stood in the middle, she was laughing loudly and carefree.
Ghazan felt a pang of worry. He knew she had a tendency to cross lines and her appearance was revealing that she was drunk.
"Bahameen!" He called out, trying to reach her over the noise.
She turned, a bright smile on her face, but it quickly faded when she saw his serious expression.
"Ghazi! You are her..come join us. Lighten up!" She muttered.
He shook his head. His jaw clenched in anger. Only he knew how he was standing at such a filthy place. Just for her.
"This isn't right. You shouldn't be drinking like this and showing off yourself at such a filthy place" He growled.
"Oh come on..Don't be such a bore" She replied, swaying slightly.
Her gaze lingered on him and she moved closer. Her hand was brushing against his arm and she passed him a sultry smile.
Ghazan stepped back, irritation rising within him. He didn't like the way she touched his arm and her smile infuriated him more.
"Behave yourself Bahameen!" His snapped swaying her arm away, eyes bored into her sparking ones.
"This isn't appropriate. You're acting out of control" He snapped, pointing at her from hear to toe.
She laughed, but it was a reckless laugh like she didn't care about anything.
"Why should I care? It's just fun!" She twirled around.
"Fun? This isn't fun. You're crossing a line" he said, his voice firm.
"Why do you always have to be so serious? Can't you just-relax?" Bahameen pouted.
He sighed, frustration bubbling inside him.
"You think this is freedom? You're just putting yourself in danger"
"Fuck off bore man!" She was done with his preaching.
After a few more awkward moments, he decided enough was enough.
"I will help you get home" He took a step forward.
"No!!!" She rolled her eyes and tried to push him away.
"I don't..wanna leave" She kept protesting.
He grasped her arm firmly and pulled her outside. The touch of her arms burned his fingers.
None of her friends dare to stop him. They knew him very well. They weren't unfamiliar with Ghazan Ali.
As they walked outside, the cool night air hit them. Ghazan felt the weight of his anger. He disliked how Bahameen rebelled against their values, how she sought attention in such a reckless way.
"You know, you could be something great if you didn't act like this" He said.
"Maybe-I don't want to be..great in your eyes" She shot back at him.
They walked in silence for a while. Ghazan kept glancing at her, seeing the spark of mischief in her eyes. He wanted to throw her somewhere where she could get some sense in her useless mind.
When they reached her home, he looked at her, frustration still simmering."Just think about what you're doing, okay? You can have fun without losing yourself in such filth"
"Whatever" Bahameen shrugged.
Ghazan couldn't force her to be someone she wasn't. As he walked away, he felt a mix of anger and concern for her.
He hoped one day she would see the value they had grown up with. But for now, she was lost in her own world that was just destruction.
And he couldn't do anything for her.
