In a pink walled room, two women were trying to handle a little kid who was crying on her father's continuous absence for two days."Bahameen!" Tooba gritted her teeth in annoyance. She couldn't stop herself from screaming at the child.
"I want papa!!!" Her screamed louder.
"Don't be angry baby. Papa will be back soon!" Tooba tried to calm down her daughter this time gently.
"He said he will be back today" Five years old Bahameen kept crying loudly.
"Oh God" Tooba held her head in hands. She was never able to handle this little trouble maker.
"Bibi! Sahb has come back" A servant arrived into the scene and announced.
Before Tooba could even react, Bahameen ran out of her room. She wanted to see her father first.
"Mahi! Slow down" Her nanny rushed behind her.
The little girl was already on the stairs, taking steps down hastily to see her beloved father as soon as possible.
"Mahi! Stop at your place" Ahmed's heart constricted as he saw his only daughter rushing down the stairs carelessly. He asked her firmly.
The girl stopped at his voice.
Her gaze fell at her father who released a sigh of relief and passed her a smile, opening his arms for her.
"I missed you papa!" She stepped down slowly and rushed into her father's arms.
"Papa ki jaan! I missed you more" Ahmed kissed her head.
Carrying her in his arms, he turned around so the girl could see the boy standing behind him.
"Mahi! I brought a friend of yours" Ahmed pointed at Ghazan who was looking at the lovely bond of Father and daughter.
He remembered his own father's love. His eyes filled with tears but he hold himself back. He didn't want to cry here. He would once he would be alone in his room.
"Who?" Mahi asked excitedly.
"He is Ghazan" Ahmed asked her to shake hands with Ghazan and make him her friend.
"But he isn't my friend" She frowned.
"He is your cousin, your uncle's son and now he is your friend and he will stay with us" Ahmed patted her cheeks.
"I don't want to be his friend" Little Bahameen shook her head. She wasn't interested in making a new friend, especially this guy.
Ghazan was silently observing this little trouble maker. He wasn't affected by her rejection. She was just a kid and it was her home. He was an outsider there. He understood from where she was coming.
"Nah beta! You shouldn't say like that" Ahmed said a little strictly this time.
"He doesn't seem nice" She huffed.
"No beta! He is such a nice boy" Ahmed said softly.
"He is ugly" She narrowed her eyes at him.
"Stop it Mahi!" Ahmed wanted to smash his head to the nearest wall.
"It's okay uncle!" Ghazan muttered sadly.
The days passed and Ghazan settled into his new home. This place wasn't like home to him. His home was different and cosy and this place seemed more like a hotel than a home. There were plenty of servants to look after the house and it's members but there was no warmth.
Ahmed was an extremely busy business man. He used to spend most of his time in his office. Ghazan could only meet him at the breakfast table. Ahmed treated him with love and care but still Ghazan was missing him because he wasn't used to be at home.
Tooba was also a busy woman. Her family owned a private hospital and she was part of the hospital administration. She wasn't used to be at home either. She treated him well and welcomed him in her house but she didn't have any extra time to spend at him.
Seven years Bahameen was the only family member who used be at home. Ahmed admitted Ghazan in the same school as Bahameen. They both used to go to the school together with the driver. In the house, they used to spend their day with Bahameen's nanny and other servants.
Ghazan wanted to be her friend although she was much younger than him but they were together all the time so he wanted to be closer to her, who was a very troublesome kid.
The only person who didn't welcome him was this little kid.
"Why are you living in my house?" In the initial days she asked him with a frown on her forehead.
"Uncle me brought me here" He told her calmly after glancing at her little figure. He averted his attention back to the notebook. He was writing his homework in the lounge.
"Why?" She questioned.
"My parents aren't alive" He told her sadly.
"Why?" She asked once again.
"I don't know why" He didn't know how to explain it to a little kid when he himself didn't understand the reality of life.
"If papa brought you home that doesn't mean it's your home now. Get up from this place. It's mine!" She tried to pull him.
"Why-what did I do?" He asked, her dumbfounded and got up from the window bed.
"You are dirty" She made an annoyed face.
"I am not" He minded her words.
"Yes. You are dirty!!" She crossed her arms at her chest and said adamantly.
"You shouldn't say that" He tried to make her understand.
"Shut up" She stared at him.
"NAZO!!!!!" She called the servant loudly who rushed to them in a few seconds.
"Yes" Nazo asked her.
"Clean this place" She ordered the servant to clean the place he was sitting on a few moments ago, as if she was the madam of the house.
Ghazan saw her attitude worriedly. That's not how a kid behaves. She was very disrespectful to everyone except her parents.
And very disrespectful towards him...
Bahameen was no different as a kid. She was always like that.
We would see more glimpses of their childhood in the upcoming chapters.
