Beyoncé"Hazel, you generate a lot of saliva." I hear Megan say from the other room.
She comes to our bedroom from changing the baby and plops down on the bed, placing Hazel between us.
"I just changed her shirt like 30 minutes ago and she's already covered in spit." Megan says.
"Because she's teething." I laugh.
"She can't teethe a little dryer?" Megan sighs.
The funniest thing about this is she's deadass.
Megan's phone rings signaling a FaceTime from Victoria.
"Hey, Tor." Megan says placing the phone where Tori can see all three of us.
Hazel recognizes her mother and waves at the camera.
"Hi, Hazel! Aww. Y'all look like a cute little family." She smiles.
"How's your mom?" I ask.
"She's okay. She has double pneumonia so they've got her on oxygen and antibiotics. She should be going home tomorrow. How's motherhood?" She asks.
"You do this every day?" Megan asks causing Victoria to burst out laughing.
"Yeah, Meg. 24/7." She chuckles. "You struggling?"
"Yes. She's constantly damp and you didn't tell me she could crawl now. I lost her for like 10 minutes because she crawled under the dining room table and fell asleep." Megan rants.
Victoria laughs again.
"I can't wait to tell my mama that." She says wiping a tear.
We chat for a bit longer and Tori says she should be home Sunday afternoon.
A bit later, the doorbell rings and I hop up to get it.
I open the door and I'm met with my own face.
Solange pushes past me and plops down on my couch.
Shit, come in I guess.
"Hello?" I say greeting the intruder.
"Hey." She says turning on the tv.
And make yourself comfortable.
"Why are you in my house?" I question.
"Felt like it." She shrugs.
"How did you get here?"
"Uber."
Megan enters the living room with Hazel crawling in front of her.
"Hey, Solo, what are you doing here?" Meg asks.
"She's here because she 'felt like it'." I tell her.
Hazel crawls over to Solo who gets on the floor to play with her.
"It's not hard to say you miss us." Megan laughs.
"I just saw y'all last night." Solange says rolling her eyes. "I don't miss you."
I know my little sister has been a little lonely since Megan and I moved in together.
Not that she would ever admit it.
She went from having 3 sisters in the house to having none in the last 5 years.
We meet up regularly for sister time but it's not the same.
"Okay, well I missed you." Megan says sitting on the couch.
"You should. I'm that bitch." Solo says cockily.
I roll my eyes.
She's just like Megan.
"Are you good, though? For real?" I ask sitting next to Megan.
"I'm fine." She says simply.
It's hard to read her so she could be telling the truth or she could be lying.
"Okay. How was your day?" Megan asks.
"It was cool. Me and my boyfriend broke up, though." She says pushing one of Hazel's toy cars across the floor.
"When did you get a boyfriend?" Megan and I ask at the same time.
"Not surround sound." She chuckles. "I been talking to Evan for a little minute."
"What's a minute?" Megan questions raising an eyebrow.
"3 months." She says.
"And you didn't tell us?" I ask her.
"Nope." She says.
"Why?"
"Because I knew it wouldn't last." She shrugs.
"Why not?" I question.
"I didn't like him for real."
"So why did you date him?" I ask.
"Because he bought my lunch everyday." She says.
"Girl..." I sigh.
"Period. Spend that little nigga's money." Meg laughs hi-fiving her.
"Don't encourage her." I say.
"Too late! Make they pockets hurt!" Megan laughs.
They always feed off of each other's goofy energy.
That's one of the things I love about Megan. She's a better sister to Solo than I am sometimes.
They decide to make dinner while Hazel and I hang out.
"Hazel and Kehlani's baby should be y'all's flower girls." Solo says twirling spaghetti on her fork.
"You don't want to do it?" Megan jokes.
"Only if I can use a leaf blower to push the flowers down the aisle." She says seriously.
"You know what? You definitely could if we were having a wedding." Megan laughs.
"You're not having a wedding?" Solo asks.
"Nope." Megan says.
"Why?"
"Because I'm too anxious for a wedding." I say quietly.
The thought of having a wedding is so damn overwhelming.
The idea of standing in front of everyone, sharing our vows, and celebrating our relationship is terrifying.
The thought of being vulnerable in such a public setting sends chills down my spine.
And don't mention the stress of planning the wedding.
From picking the perfect venue to deciding on the flowers and creating the guest list...
And the dresses!
Hell nah.
I know Megan probably wants one and I know our moms would love that but I just can't.
Thinking about it right now has my heart racing.
"Oh yeah. You got that anxiety shit... I high-key be forgetting." Solo laughs.
"Yeah. Shit sucks." I mumble.
Megan puts her hand on my knee and I relax a little bit.
"I don't need a wedding. I just need you." She says softly.
"Eww..." Solo says.
