Megan
6th grade"Beyoncé, I said answer the question." Mrs. White demands.
She's been bullying Bey since the school year started. Always making slick remarks about Bey not deserving special treatment.
It's been months and it's getting to the point where Beyoncé doesn't want to come to school.
And that's pissing me off. Bad.
Usually, I say something but I keep getting written up.
Bey asked me to chill so I won't get suspended but I can already tell I'm finna get put out.
"I don't care about your made up 'disorder' you have to participate in this class like everyone else." The older woman says harshly.
Beyoncé sits with her head on her desk and I can tell she's crying.
I'm getting madder by the second.
I quickly text Bianca and ask her to come get Bey.
The high school is across the street so hopefully it won't be long.
Then, I text my mama and tell her I'm about to get suspended.
"BEYONCÉ!" Mrs. White yells making Bey jump.
Hell naw.
"Leave her alone! Dang!" Normani calls out from the other side of the room.
"You can't see she's scared?" Another kid says.
"Her fake fear means nothing to me." The teacher says.
Fake? She's literally hyperventilating right in front of this bitch.
I stand up.
"Megan, sit down before I write you up."
"Do it I don't care." I say as I walk over to Bey's desk and squat down to peek at her face under the desk.
"Bey, it's okay." I say quietly.
I grab her hand and frown.
It's cold meaning she's not getting enough air to her extremities.
She might pass out soon.
I'm 2 seconds from swinging on Mrs. White for treating her like this.
"You're not getting enough oxygen, Bey. You gotta breathe." I tell her calmly.
"Megan, sit down. NOW."
"Stop fucking yelling." Normani and I both say, irritated.
I look behind me and my sister is standing next to me.
Period.
I guess we finna get suspended.
"I'm writing all three of y'all up."
Big shocker.
I turn back to Bey.
"Come on. I texted your sister. We'll wait in the office."
Bey gets up and Normani grabs her books.
This bald headed ass teacher stands in front of the door.
"Excuse us." I grit through my teeth.
"You always rushing to save your little girlfriend. She not gone save you when you get suspended." She says angrily.
Last weekend Farrah was calling us dykes now this bitch is calling her my girlfriend.
I know that's finna stress Bey out further.
"Can you move?" Mani asks annoyed.
By the time we get to the office, Bia is already in there.
"Y'all okay?" She asks looking over all three of us.
We nod but before we can say anything, Principal Reeves comes out of her office.
"Pete twins, what did y'all do now?" She sighs.
"Mrs. White was picking on Beyoncé again." I tell her.
Her face softens a bit.
She knows I'm always gone step when it comes to Beyoncé and Normani is gone step for me.
Principal Reeves is black and gay so I guess she sees herself in me or something.
"Y'all sit down." She sighs. "Bianca, you're taking Beyoncé home?"
"Yeah." Bia says rubbing Bey's back as she clings tightly to her sister.
"Sign the sheet." Principal Reeves says.
My mom enters the office looking annoyed as hell.
I know she's aggravated she had to leave work and we're going to hear about that for the rest of the week.
"Beyoncé, are you okay?" She asks my best friend first.
Bey nods.
"What is going on?" She asks looking at me and my sister.
Normani and I explain the situation at the same time.
Lucky for us, my mom knows how to listen to both of us at once.
She turns to our principal.
"Why do you keep letting that grown woman pick on these kids? Bianca is missing class and I had to leave work to come up here all because that woman won't leave Beyoncé alone." Mom rants.
My mama gone step for ALL of us.
"Ms. Pete... My hands are tied. I've spoken with her and spoken with the school district about her. They said they haven't gotten enough complaints on her." Principal Reeves says.
"Don't worry about it. They finna have enough. Y'all come on."
--The next morning--
My mom, Bey's parents and a few other parents went to the school district about Mrs. White.
"I hope they fire her." I huff texting Bey to make sure she's good.
She still sounded a little upset when we had our nightly call before bed.
"Mama's gone make sure they do." Mani says confidently.
"Thank you for having my back." I tell her.
"You would've had mine." She shrugs.
💍: I'm ok. Just anxious about our parents going to the school district because of me.
I quickly text her back telling her that Mrs. White deserves whatever is coming to her for being trash and I reassure her that whatever happens to that miserable bitch is her own fault.
Our mom walks in the house on the phone.
"Right, girl! And I had to leave my job to go down there! Exactly!" She says into her phone.
One thing a black mama hates is having to leave her job for some dumb shit.
When she gets off the phone I ask her what happened with the school board.
"They're deliberating on whether to fire her or not, but she's suspended while we wait." Our mom says.
"Good. I hope she never teaches again." Normani says.
I nod.
She needs to work in sales or something with an attitude like that.
