2. when kara comes back

(a/n): okay i will say this is inspired by another oneshot i read but i cant remember which one sooooo credits to that author, you're amazing!!

Mini and Brynne were helping out with the museum the day she had come back. Everything was normal. Aru slept in. Sherrilyn was binging Real Housewives of Atlanta.

"Aru!" Mini had yelled. "Someone's here for the tour!" She shot out of bed, putting on decent clothes and combing her hair with a fork on the way down (it works quite well, most people don't give enough credit for the idea).

Aru opened the door. "Hi! Welcome to the-" Her face paled. 

Kara's soft, catlike eyes and sunlit feeling demeanor were still the same. Her hair was still a long, glossy chocolate brown. And it wrenched in Aru's heart that she couldn't remember that they were sisters.

"Are you okay?" Kara frowned.

Aru shook her head, faking a smile. "Fine, sorry. Welcome to the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture. Those two over there, Mini and Brynne'll help you get checked in." Through the mind link, Aru called out to them

"Kara's here. Why didn't you tell me Kara's here?"

"Oh my god." Mini said through the mind link in disbelief. "She's actually here."

"Does she remember us?" Brynne asked, confused.

"No. Nothing's changed though. She's still our-" Aru's words caught on the word sister.

"Hey, Aru. It's fine. We can help with the tour. You'll be okay." Mini said comfortingly.

"Should we tell Wifey?" Aru asked.

"Probably." Brynne said.

"Okay, I'll text him. You guys go help her out at the check-in desk."

Aru led her over to the desk, where Mini and Brynne started getting her set up.

You: sooooo im kinda freaking out rn

wifey❤️: what's wrong? are you okay?

You: karas back.

You: well not 'back' but shes at the museum rn

wifey❤️: what???

wifey❤️: are you okay?!

You: i'm just gonna sit through it, do the whole tour and then cry myself to sleep

wifey❤️: i know i cant talk you out of that so call me when you finish okay??

You: i know i knoww

wifey❤️: i don't think you do

The tour went by okay, with Kara writing notes about everything and Mini and Brynne taking other parts of it.

When they were checking out, Kara stopped Aru.

"I'm sorry but you look so familiar! Do I know you from somewhere or did we go to high school together or..."

Aru held back a cry.

"No. Um, nowhere I don't think. A lot of people say that. Sorry."

She smiled. "You're good!"

If only Aru could muster up somethimg remotely like that in that moment.

She could only purse her lips and hide out in the bathroom, having Mini and Brynne check Kara out while she cried in there for a whole of thirty minutes.

okay but acc this made me soooo sad

it was really short haha sorry about that, i have zero experience in oneshots other than reading them chronically✌️

anyways did we like? i tried but the ones that take place in the museum are really hard cos i have no idea how that works (im dumb and dont go to museums, my sister got those genes not me)
