♤THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE♤
On January 18th, 2018, Edinburgh, Scotland, was unexpectedly engulfed by a cold that seemed to seep into every corner of the city. The air was sharp, and a hefty layer of frost blanketed the ground, turning familiar streets into a sensational wonderland.
The trees, typically vivid with seasonal colours, perched sharp and exposed, their branches glistening like crystal chandeliers in the soft morning light. The air was brittle, each breath visible like a cloud of mist, and the world appeared to hold its breath in the serene stillness of the winter morning.
Wolfe Rodriguez awoke an hour before his alarm was scheduled to go off. The cold air seeping through the dense walls of his apartment urged him to leave the comfort of the duvet. He lay there momentarily, staring at the ceiling, the cold wrapped around him, pressing down on him like a boulder.
The usual sounds of the city- cars honking, people chatting, the distant rumble of the transit station- were muted, as if the cold wrapped the world in a soft, white cocoon. As he swung his legs over the side of the bed, the cold floor jolted him awake, prompting him to quickly shuffle to the bathroom in search of warmth from a hot shower.
Steam began to rise, filling the medium-sized space with heat and the scent of his favourite soap, yet the chill lingered in his bones. Wolfe briefly looked at the digital alarm clock on the nightstand before entering the bathroom and realised he had an hour to get ready for the day.
He stumbled through his morning tasks, his mind racing with thoughts of the day's obligations. The frost outside was stunning, but it also meant he would need to scrape the ice off his car before heading to work.
Wolfe swiftly brushed his teeth, the minty toothpaste foaming around his mouth as he scrubbed away the remnants of the night. After rinsing, he splashed cold water on his face, the refreshing droplets revitalising and banishing the last traces of sleepiness.
He glanced in the mirror, taking a moment to smooth his hair before focusing on his outfit for the day.
Wolfe opened his closet and thoughtfully picked out his clothes.
First, he chose a Newport navy custom-fit stretch poplin shirt from Ralph Lauren. Second, he chose a Fawn Grey Heather cable-knit cotton quarter-zip jumper from Ralph Lauren. He pulled it over his head, and it tousled his hair slightly, but he was unconcerned, knowing he could easily restyle it.
Next, he selected Aviator navy stretch slim-fit chino trousers from Ralph Lauren, their tailored fit imprinting a sense of confidence as he fastened the black Leather Roller-Buckle belt also from Ralph Lauren.
He donned navy cotton blend crew socks before slipping into a pair of black Alston Leather Penny loafers, both of which, along with the rest of his attire, were sourced from Ralph Lauren. Standing in front of the mirror, fully dressed, he felt as pretty as a picture.
Wolfe made his way to the kitchen, intending to prepare breakfast and brew coffee. The delectable aromas of freshly ground coffee beans and sizzling bacon filled his mind, his mouth began to water at the mere thought of it.
However, his intention to prepare breakfast and brew coffee was disrupted when his phone began ringing from his bedroom. Its unwavering sound had cut through the morning calm like a siren. With a troubled sigh and a shake of his head, Wolfe pivoted and made his way to his bedroom.
The pleasant thoughts of breakfast dissipated almost immediately.
With each passing step, a heaviness surrounded Wolfe, and the allure of the kitchen started to fade. He entered his bedroom, the door emitting a faint creak as he crossed the threshold. The gentle beams of sunlight filtered through the Venetian blinds, creating an array of shapes and shadows upon the walls, furniture, and floor.
