♤THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE♤

Artemis realised a few minutes into his drive that he had no idea where Wolfe was, so he decided to take a chance and head to the hospital. Fortunately, when he enquired about Wolfe, the receptionist provided him with the same information she had given Amethyst earlier.

He now stood in the private room where Wolfe had been brought just a few hours earlier, while Artemis had been there for the past thirty minutes. Wolfe lay asleep when he arrived and hadn't stirred since Artemis had taken his place by the bedside. As he observed Wolfe, he pondered whether it would be better to step out and return at a later time.

Ultimately, he decided that if Wolfe didn't wake up in the next fifteen minutes, he would take his leave and return another day.

Artemis had picked up a bottle of water from the vending machine outside the hospital before stepping into the room, and now he was sipping it absentmindedly while scrolling through Instagram.

In what felt like no time at all, five minutes had passed, prompting a groan from Wolfe. Without a second thought, Artemis capped the water bottle and set it down on the table beside Wolfe's bed. He then turned off his phone, tucked it away in his coat pocket, and focused entirely on the man next to him.

Artemis spoke softly, almost inaudibly, "Hi." Wolfe gradually opened his eyes and turned his head, immediately regretting it as a sharp throb from his migraine intensified. "Hi." He replied in a hushed tone, managing to give Artemis a faint smile.

They remained silent for a moment until Wolfe finally broke the stillness. "I apologise." He said. Artemis was taken aback. What could he possibly be sorry for? Just as Artemis opened his mouth to respond, Wolfe raised a hand to halt him.

"I could feel your frustration when I asked you to step out so I could have a conversation with Amethyst, even though I know you weren't fond of that suggestion, and I completely understand why. I want to clarify that Amethyst is not in any danger; I fabricated that for no good reason, and it was thoughtless of me. Lastly, I sincerely apologise for how I treated you earlier; my behaviour was unkind." Artemis took a seat in the chair next to the bed and let out a deep sigh.

Artemis spoke softly. "I forgive you." However, his tone shifted as he added. "But if you ever fabricate a story about someone being in danger when they're not, I will cut all connections with you. Not only did you cause me to worry, but you likely stressed Amethyst out for no reason, and you know how she reacts under pressure." Wolfe closed his eyes, letting out a quiet sigh.

"I understand that now; sometimes I blurt things out without thinking about how they affect others." A crooked smile appeared on Artemis's lips as he gazed at Wolfe's face. Even in moments like this, he had a way of making his heart race.

Artemis asked. "When do you think you'll be able to leave the hospital?" Wolfe replied truthfully that it would likely be three to six weeks before he could go home, a duration that felt quite lengthy to him. "And what about you? How are you managing?" Artemis then shared the details of his injuries, explaining that his recovery timeline was uncertain and would take an unspecified amount of time.

Wolfe suddenly voiced his thoughts. "Why do I feel like it's all my fault?" This caught Artemis off guard, prompting him to raise an eyebrow in confusion. "How so?" Wolfe met Artemis's gaze, letting out a heavy sigh.

He explained that if he hadn't upset Artemis earlier at the Carnelian château, Artemis wouldn't have been in such a foul mood, leading him to drink too much and provoke that man. "What triggered the fight, if you don't mind me asking?" Artemis recounted how the man who hurt him had appeared out of nowhere, greeting him. In response, Artemis had scowled and told him to leave. The next thing he knew, he was being shoved off his bar stool and onto the floor, with everything that followed, becoming a blur.
