♤THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE♤
The ambulance and police arrived in under twenty minutes. The kind man who assisted her in stabilizing Wolfe had contacted the police. As it turned out, he was a doctor on leave due to an injury from a car accident the previous week, and he had been enjoying his lunch when the fight erupted.
The paramedics carefully placed Wolfe onto the stretcher and rolled him into the back of the ambulance. Meanwhile, the police were busy questioning Artemis.
"Can you explain how the fight began?" One officer enquired, jotting notes in her notebook. Artemis shook his head, gripping it tightly; a pounding headache clouded his memory.
"I believe he needs some time to recover and clear his head before you continue with the questions, officer," Amethyst interjected. The officer agreed with a nod and informed her partner that they should wrap up after scheduling a time for tomorrow for further questioning.
She handed the note to Amethyst, which clearly indicated the time of 3:30 for the following day. Amethyst thanked her, carefully folding the note and placing it in her handbag. Her attention then turned to Artemis, who was struggling to keep his eyes open.
At that moment, the man from earlier approached the booth and took a seat across from Amethyst and her brother. "They left in a hurry." He commented, to which Amethyst nodded in agreement.
"I told them he needs some rest before answering any more questions, so he has an appointment for questioning tomorrow at half three." The man acknowledged her statement with a nod of understanding.
"May I ask for your name?" He enquired. to which she responded with a warm smile and a nod. "I'm Amethyst Thatcher." She introduced herself. He mirrored her smile and replied, "Pleasure to meet you, Amethyst. I'm KriangKrai Chaichana." Her eyes widened in astonishment.
"Chaichana?" Do you have a sister by any chance?" He confirmed and shared his sister's name. "Yes, her name is Malivalaya." Amethyst's jaw dropped in shock.
"You look surprised. Do you know my sister?" Amethyst nodded and explained that she had met Malivalaya, KriangKrai's sister, during her college years in Stanford, California. "Oh, I see. She never mentioned you." KriangKrai responded.
Amethyst looked down, a trace of sadness on her face. "Oh, I see." She repeated. "Did something happen between you two?" Amethyst nodded but signalled that she wasn't ready to talk about it just yet.
"I understand. By the way, I drove here. Would you like a ride home?" Amethyst nodded, appreciating his kindness. They both stood up, with KriangKrai carefully carrying Artemis to his car, while Amethyst followed closely behind.
They jumped into the car, with Amethyst securing Artemis's seatbelt before buckling her own. KriangKrai enquired about the directions to her home, and she provided him with the address.
He entered it into the GPS, fired up the engine, and set off toward her place. Once they arrive at Amethyst's house - specifically, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thatcher's place - chaos - is bound to ensue.
Amethyst hasn't had the chance to find her own space yet, and while her parents have generously offered her a place to stay for as long as she needs, the impending turmoil will soon drive her to the brink.
