If the look wasn't bad enough it sure did stink. It reeked of hell. No matter how many times he patrolled this place he still couldn't get used to it nor the long process of trying to rid his entire being of the stench. Katsuki didn't know what made it smell so bad nor did he want to know. Something told him the answer would be even more disgusting than the actual smell.
Still, he'd been walking around for half an hour, he was well deep into it now and all he'd seen is a few stray animals. It was times like these he'd love to relax but he knew there was something somewhere lurking. Apart from the odd cat or two. Those he didn't mind. He liked his personal space and so did they.
Using his quirk he got on top of the sturdiest building he could find nearby. To get a better look of the area. It hardly ever changed, Katsuki could probably tell you how many blood splatters there were in the entire area without having to move from that very spot he knew it that well. Of course, it was still as shitty as ever. Although he could admit it had some sort of sickening appeal to it he quite liked. There wasn't really anyone around, not that he could see. It was peaceful. Compared to the horrible morning he had, this was great. It had his flaws, he'd definitely get bashed for saying he liked wandering around the desolate area full of bad memories but he could think it.
"Heeyyyy!", a strangely familiar voice called out.
"What fucking idiot—", Katsuki whirred around to the voice, he stood ready to help someone meet their doom but, looking down at the figure, he relaxed. "Oh..."
He jumped down, landing with a loud thud in front of the other who stepped back a little.
"Fancy seeing you here!", Kirishima laughed. Katsuki was almost about to ask what he was doing but he was very clearly on patrol so asking would be stupid. It was funny to see that his hero costume had barely changed. Though, he knew that already. "Want a drink?"
Kirishima held out a milkshake whilst slurping his own. "I accidentally bought two."
"How the fuck do you manage that?", was all he could spit out of his forsaken mouth. God forbid, he had a decent conversation with the guy. You know, without the swearing and the harsh tone. Like that had ever changed though. Kirishima didn't care about it back in high school unless he was blatantly being rude to someone.
"It...- there was a new flavour I wanted to try but I had already bought one so uhm... I have two now?", he averted his gaze with a strange chuckle. "It's... vanilla."
Katsuki could tell just by looking at it. There was no whipped cream or any other fancy adornment, it was just plain and simple. It was exactly how Katsuki liked it. He hated overly complicated drinks. The one Kirishima was drinking was just that. Red in colour, whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles with a chocolate flake — what even was that? "... Alright. Thanks."
It was strange. It felt strange. He felt like they hadn't just met this morning. Literally two hours ago. Katsuki couldn't shake that feeling. Still, Kirishima was nothing but a stranger to him now. He didn't even know if he had the right to ask how he was or what he was up to. As much as he could barely remember the reason why they stopped talking, he was fully aware that it was him that pushed Kirishima away. He remembered it vividly.
"I didn't know you worked at that uh... new agency.", Katsuki lightly kicked a stone at his feet, looking down as he hesitantly drank from the straw. The awkwardness definitely hadn't changed from earlier though. It was talking then a beat of silence, followed by hesitant questions to keep him from melting away into the concrete.
"I just joined today actually.", Kirishima stood around with him, whipping out a snack from god knows where, "I've been all the way down south for seven years so... I wanted to come back."
