Tagaytay Timeline - Chapter 3: The Skyward Rescue

---

The soft hum of the engine reverberated through the cobalt-blue biplane as it soared above the lush landscape of Tagaytay. Vapor leaned out slightly, feeling the wind whip through his hair, while Miles focused on navigating the controls. It was a bright, beautiful day—perfect for a little adventure.

Behind them, Rosie sat comfortably, her eyes wide with awe. She’d always been impressed by what Vapor and Miles could achieve, especially with this plane they had built from scratch. "You two really outdid yourselves with this thing," she said, a grin lighting up her face.

Vapor turned back with a soft smile. "Thanks, Rosie. I still can't believe we actually got it flying."

"All that hard work paid off," Miles added, adjusting the plane's altitude as they passed over a series of hills. "Now, let’s just enjoy the ride.”

But their peaceful flight soon took a turn. As they flew over a small coastal village not too far from Tagaytay, something caught Vapor’s eye—a commotion near the beach. From above, it looked like a small group of people were being held at gunpoint by a few men.

“Is that… what I think it is?” Vapor’s voice tightened as he pointed downward.

Miles squinted, her hands steady on the controls. “It looks like a robbery.”

Rosie leaned over to look. "They’ve got guns!" Her eyes widened with concern. "We have to do something.”

Planning the Rescue

Miles quickly found an open field nearby and brought the plane down for a landing. As they hopped out, Vapor’s mind raced. This was no schoolyard fight or harmless adventure—real lives were at stake.

"We need to call the police," Rosie suggested, her phone already in hand.

Vapor nodded. "Yeah, but while we wait for them, we need to figure out how to keep those people safe. We can’t just stand by."

"I can approach them quietly, maybe distract them," Miles proposed. "And Vapor, you’re good at sneaking around—if we can get close enough, we might be able to disarm them."

Rosie looked at the two of them, her worry mixed with admiration. "Be careful. I’ll hang back and call out if things go south."

Vapor swallowed his nervousness. He wasn’t always the boldest, but he couldn’t let innocent people get hurt. “Let’s do it.”

The Confrontation

As they crept through the forest toward the beach, the situation became clearer. There were three men, all armed, demanding money from a few terrified villagers who had been setting up for a beach market. One of the men seemed particularly agitated, waving his gun around wildly.

"We need to separate them," Vapor whispered to Miles. "If we can distract the agitated one, the others might back down."

Miles nodded, pulling out her pocket mirror. She positioned it just right so the sun’s rays reflected into the agitated man’s eyes.

"Hey, what the—!" he shouted, raising a hand to block the light.

That was their cue. Vapor dashed forward, taking advantage of the confusion. With the reflexes of someone who had been in tight spots before, he grabbed a piece of driftwood lying on the ground and swept it toward the man’s legs, knocking him off balance. The gun flew from his hand.

Miles, on the other side, quickly shoved one of the other men, catching him off guard and making him stumble.

Rosie, watching from a distance, gasped. “Be careful!”

The third man, now aware of the situation, aimed his gun at Vapor. For a moment, Vapor’s heart pounded in his chest, but then a voice rang out.

“Police! Drop your weapons!”

The local authorities, having received Rosie’s call, had arrived just in time. The man’s eyes flicked from Vapor to the officers, and he reluctantly dropped his gun.

The tension in the air broke as the officers took control of the scene, arresting the men. The villagers, still shaken, thanked Vapor, Miles, and Rosie profusely.

Aftermath

Back in the safety of their plane, Vapor let out a long breath. His hands were still shaking, but Rosie’s gentle touch on his arm helped calm him down.

“You were so brave,” she said, her eyes filled with admiration. "I was scared for a second, but you handled it perfectly."

Vapor looked down, a small, shy smile on his face. "I didn’t do it alone. We worked together."

Miles, still checking over the plane before they took off again, gave Vapor a thumbs-up. “You did good out there, Vapor.”

As they took to the skies once more, heading home, Rosie leaned over and rested her head on Vapor’s shoulder. “You’re amazing, you know that?”

Vapor blushed slightly, but he didn’t pull away. "Thanks, Rosie."

The warmth between them in that moment felt as comforting as the wind that guided their plane back home. Despite the danger, they had faced it together, and now, as the sun began to set over the horizon, they could finally relax.

A Quiet Moment

Later that evening, after they had landed and returned home, the three friends sat on a hillside overlooking the town, the stars beginning to twinkle above them. Vapor gazed out at the view, feeling a sense of peace despite the day’s events.

"You were pretty heroic today," Rosie said, nudging him lightly. “Saving the day, taking down those guys…”

Vapor chuckled, his hand still in hers. “Nah, it was all of us. We did it together.”

"Still," Rosie smiled softly. "I’m proud of you."

Vapor’s heart fluttered at her words. He wasn’t used to being called a hero, but today… maybe he had been one, if only for a moment.
