Tagaytay Timeline - Chapter 5: A Bet and a New Deal

---

It was a breezy Saturday afternoon, and Vapor sat at the table with his best friend and sidekick, Miles. The two were deep into their game of Monopoly, and the stakes were high. Vapor’s face was tense as he tried to hold onto his properties, but Miles was clearly in the lead.

“I can’t believe I’m losing,” Vapor groaned as Miles made her move, buying up yet another one of his properties. “You always win when we play this.”

Miles grinned, clearly pleased with herself. “You agreed to the rules. Now, are you ready for your punishment?”

Vapor sighed in defeat. “Alright, what do I have to do?”

“You’ve gotta wear girl clothes to school for one day,” Miles said with a smirk.

Vapor’s eyes widened in shock. “Wait, what? No way! That wasn’t part of the deal!”

“Oh, it was part of the deal,” Miles insisted. “Come on, Vapor, it’s just for one day. You’ll survive.”

Before Vapor could argue further, his phone buzzed with a message from Rosie. He hesitated before checking it, already imagining what she’d think.

Rosie: You’re really gonna wear it? I think it’ll be cute!

Vapor shook his head. He wasn’t sure if Rosie was teasing or being serious, but he had no choice now. A bet was a bet.

Monday Morning: The Day of the Bet

The next day, Vapor stood in front of the mirror, tugging awkwardly at the floral blouse Miles had picked out for him. He paired it with a skirt that felt way too comfortable for his liking. He could already feel the embarrassment creeping in as he imagined what school would be like.

“This is going to be awful,” he muttered to himself, glancing at his reflection one last time before heading out the door.

As soon as he arrived at school, the reactions were immediate. His classmates stared, and laughter followed him through the halls. Valore, who was already waiting by their lockers, burst out laughing when she saw him.

“Oh no way, Vapor! You actually did it!” Valore exclaimed, her blue eyes twinkling with amusement. “You’ve got guts, I’ll give you that.”

Vapor’s face flushed, and he tried to shrug it off. “Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up. I lost a bet, okay?”

“Don’t worry, you’re rocking it,” Valore teased.

At that moment, Rosie approached, her expression a mix of amusement and affection. She was an 11th grader, and while she was often serious about her studies, she still found time to tease Vapor. She stopped in front of him, taking in his outfit with a grin.

“Wow,” she said, her voice soft and playful. “I have to admit, you look kind of cute like this.”

Vapor groaned. “Not you too.”

Rosie laughed, her dark eyes filled with mischief. “How about this? I’ll make you a deal. If you wear this for a whole week instead of just one day, I’ll give you 300 pesos. Deal?”

Vapor looked at her incredulously. “A whole week? Rosie, I’m barely making it through today!”

Rosie leaned closer, lowering her voice. “Come on, Vapor. You’ll be fine. And besides, it’s only one week.”

Vapor sighed, feeling trapped between the teasing from Miles, Valore, and now Rosie. He wasn’t sure how he could make it through a whole week like this. But the 300 pesos wasn’t a bad incentive.

“Fine,” he muttered. “But only for the money.”

Rosie’s smile widened, and she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. “You’re the best.”

The Week of the Bet

As the week dragged on, Vapor found himself slowly getting used to the stares and teasing. Miles, of course, made sure to remind him every day that it was her idea in the first place.

“I thought you’d have backed out by now,” she said one afternoon as they sat together during lunch.

“I’m only doing this because Rosie bet me 300 pesos,” Vapor replied, poking at his food. “Otherwise, I would have quit on day one.”

“You know, she must really like you to make a bet like that,” Valore chimed in, appearing out of nowhere and plopping down beside them. “And I gotta say, you’re handling it pretty well.”

Vapor rolled his eyes, though his face softened at the mention of Rosie. “Yeah, well, I guess I can thank her for making this somewhat bearable.”

Across the cafeteria, Rosie was sitting with a few of her classmates, glancing over at Vapor with a soft smile on her face. Despite being serious about her studies, she always found time to check in on him and make sure he wasn’t feeling too overwhelmed by the teasing.

Saturday: The End of the Bet

By the time Saturday rolled around, Vapor was more than ready to go back to wearing his usual clothes. But when he met up with Rosie after her shift at the café, he couldn’t help but feel a little lighter knowing the week was finally over.

Rosie had just finished working her four-hour shift, earning her usual 700 pesos per hour, and she greeted Vapor with a playful grin.

“Well, look at you,” she teased. “One whole week, and you survived. I’m proud of you.”

Vapor smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. “Yeah, but I’m definitely never doing that again.”

Rosie laughed softly, slipping 300 pesos into his hand. “There you go. You earned it.”

Vapor pocketed the money, his heart warming at the thought of Rosie being by his side the entire time. “Thanks. I’m just glad you didn’t push for more than a week.”

Rosie leaned in, giving him another quick kiss on the cheek. “You know, you really are cute when you’re all embarrassed.”

Vapor’s face flushed, but he couldn’t help but smile. “You’re never gonna let me forget this, are you?”

“Nope,” Rosie replied with a wink, lacing her fingers with his. “But that’s okay. You did great.”
