Chapter 39: Vapor’s Revenge (Extended)
It was a crisp autumn morning, and despite the chill in the air, Vapor had woken up with a smirk on his face. Today was the day. Sure, it wasn’t April Fool’s Day, but that didn’t matter to him. The promise of payback for the last truth-or-dare game echoed in his mind. Rosie and Miles had teased him relentlessly after the pajama incident, and now, it was his turn.
Vapor got ready, pulling on his usual clothes but with a mischievous gleam in his eye. He’d spent the last week planning out his pranks, carefully calculating every move to make sure they were just the right balance of annoying and hilarious.
First stop: Miles’ house.

Prank #1: The Switching Shoes
Vapor knocked on the door, and Miles answered in her usual casual attire. "Hey, Vapor. What’s up?"
Vapor gave a friendly wave. "Not much. Just thought I’d swing by, see if you wanted to hang out."
Miles raised an eyebrow, suspicious. "Hang out? You’ve been awfully quiet since that truth-or-dare night. What’re you up to?"
"Nothing!" Vapor said, his grin a little too wide to be believable. "Come on, I’ve been plotting my revenge all week! You should be on edge."
Miles sighed, rolling her eyes. "Fine, fine. Come in."
As Miles walked back to the living room, Vapor slipped off his shoes at the entryway and swapped them with a pair of hers that were sitting there. She had a habit of leaving her shoes by the door, so it was the perfect setup.
"Want something to drink?" Miles called from the kitchen.
"Sure!" Vapor called back, trying to stifle a laugh.
When Miles returned and sat down, Vapor made sure the shoes were perfectly aligned with hers. She didn’t notice anything at first, too caught up in whatever show she was watching. After about an hour of hanging out, she stood up to head out to run an errand.
"See you later, Vap," she said, slipping on her shoes—Vapor’s shoes.
The moment she took her first step, she stumbled, looking down at the oversized footwear in confusion. "What the—?"
Vapor burst out laughing, unable to contain it any longer. "Gotcha! How do those size-9 shoes feel?"
Miles glared at him, but a small smirk tugged at the corner of her lips. "Okay, fine. That’s one point for you, but you better watch your back, Vapor."

Prank #2: Rosie’s Cupcake Catastrophe
With the first prank a success, Vapor headed over to Rosie’s house, feeling even more confident. He’d left his second prank for Rosie because it was a little more… elaborate.
Rosie was in the kitchen when Vapor arrived, humming to herself as she baked cupcakes. She loved baking, and that was something Vapor was going to use to his advantage.
"Hey, Rosie!" Vapor called, stepping into the kitchen.
"Vap! What’s up?" Rosie greeted him with a warm smile, pulling a tray of freshly baked cupcakes from the oven. "I’m just finishing up a batch. Want one?"
"Oh, absolutely," Vapor grinned, already preparing his prank in his head.
As Rosie turned to grab some icing, Vapor quickly swapped her sugar jar with salt. He watched with bated breath as she scooped a generous helping of "sugar" into the icing and started mixing.
"These are going to be amazing," Rosie said, completely oblivious to the prank. She started icing the cupcakes and offered one to Vapor.
"Thanks!" Vapor took the cupcake and stared at it, trying not to laugh as he bit into it. The salty flavor hit him hard, but he maintained his composure.
Rosie took a bite of her own cupcake, and immediately her face contorted into a mix of shock and disgust. "What—what is this?!"
Vapor couldn’t hold it in any longer and burst out laughing. "April Fool’s! Or, uh, October Fool’s in this case."
Rosie glared at him, but there was a twinkle of amusement in her eyes. "Oh, you are so dead, Vapor."

The Unexpected Twist: Miles in a Dress
Later that day, the trio met up again at Rosie’s place. Vapor, feeling triumphant after his pranks, was in a particularly good mood. That’s when the final part of his revenge fell into place—though it wasn’t something he’d planned.
Miles walked in, wearing a dress for the first time since their truth-or-dare game. She hadn’t even noticed that Vapor was staring at her.
"Hey, you alright, Vap?" Miles asked, noticing his distracted look.
Vapor blinked, trying to hide his surprise. "Oh, uh, yeah. You just...look different today."
Miles smirked, clearly catching on. "What? Didn’t think I’d actually go through with the dress thing?"
Rosie giggled. "I think he’s shocked by how cute you look, honestly."
Vapor’s face turned red. "W-What?! I mean, yeah, you look fine—I mean, good! Wait, no—"
Miles raised an eyebrow, a grin spreading across her face. "You think I’m cute, Vapor?"
"N-No! I mean, I guess, but it’s not like—"
Rosie laughed, patting Vapor on the back. "Looks like you’re the one getting flustered now, Vap."
But as much as the teasing stung, Vapor quickly caught himself. He straightened up and cleared his throat, his voice gaining some sass. "You know what? I’ll admit it, Miles, you look good. But don’t get it twisted—Rosie’s the only one I’ve got eyes for."
Rosie, who had been playfully laughing moments ago, now blushed a little herself. Vapor had said it with so much confidence that it caught her off guard. "Vap…"
Vapor shot her a grin, the playful glint in his eyes returning. "Come on, Rosie, you know I’m always loyal. No one can even come close to you."
Miles laughed, but there was a hint of approval in her tone. "Wow, Vapor, I didn’t think you had that kind of loyalty in you. Rosie’s lucky."
Rosie blushed harder, but she couldn’t help smiling. "Yeah, well, I’m pretty lucky to have him."
The tension in the room shifted, with Vapor standing tall, proud of how smoothly he had turned the situation around. His loyalty to Rosie was unwavering, and he wasn’t afraid to show it—even in the midst of teasing.
