Arnav's days over the past four months had been just this: a mess of confusion, anger, and frustration. Khushi was the bane of his existence. He hated her with every fiber of his being. But the truth was that he did not.
When she smiled that bedazzling smile, eyes sparkling, everything else disappeared from his mind. He had to struggle to remember that this woman who seemed like a ray of sunshine was actually a manipulative, lying b—no, he couldn't call her those names, even in his thoughts. But she was. She was, and he needed to remember it.

For those who haven't seen the show, the story so far:
Arnav Singh Raizada, 28, angsty fashion tycoon, met Khushi Kumari Gupta, 23, bubbly daughter of a sweetmaker, in Lucknow, at his fashion show she accidentally gatecrashed into. He treated her roughly, she hated him, they clashed. Their encounter led to her sister getting left at the altar, and the two sisters being forced to move to Delhi to live with their aunt (Buaji).
In Delhi, Arnav and Khushi kept bumping into one another, and she inadvertently began working for him. They clashed some more. Then she fought back and quit her job but ended up working in his home. Both orphans, they began to form an odd bond, but he was getting engaged to his girlfriend, and she was forced into an engagement too. Only, he broke off his engagement, and so did she—because her fiancé, Shyam, turned out to be married—to Arnav's beloved sister. The Gupta family kept this a secret, because Khushi's sister Payal and Arnav's cousin Akash fell in love, and were getting married. Our young couple were finally getting together, there were some lovely romantic moments, but alas! Arnav saw Shyam and Khushi together, and horribly misunderstanding the situation, compelled Khushi to elope with him—to protect his pregnant sister's well-being.
Believing her to be Shyam's mistress, Arnav hated Khushi. And not understanding why he was doing this, Khushi hated Arnav. But they had once been in love, and that complicated things...

Note: Some of my least favorite parts of IPKKND are that:
1. Arnav never understands how Khushi was being harassed by Shyam
2. Khushi never explains properly what happened with Shyam—the Arnav-Khushi confrontation on the bridge is so unsatisfying
3. After marrying Khushi, Arnav doesn't do anything about Shyam
4. They never find out what Shyam did to Shashi
5. Khushi's family never regrets forcing her engagement with Shyam
6. Payal stops understanding Khushi, and Akash becomes somewhat of an ass
7. The whole kidnapping track is ridiculous
8. Khushi's suicide trackBut the show is full of moments that we all love to watch and rewatch. So this retelling is an attempt to try and keep my favorite moments, while reimagining the story in a way that I would have liked. It's just a fun exercise; I don't know how long it will go on, and if it will follow the general outline of the show, but I hope IPKKND fans will enjoy it as much as I enjoy reading the many amazing works here. 🙂
