She took in a deep breath and opened the cover.

It had been years since she had buried her secrets deep within the pages of her diary.

Her secret journal.

Although she occasionally wrote musings and poems citing her past experiences, she was never vocal about them and didn't share them with anyone.

She had never opened up to anyone till date. She never had the courage to.

She flipped through the pages of the journal, not knowing where to start.

Her past traumas were flashing in front of her eyes. For years, she had kept them hidden in some corner, scared of unleashing them or facing them.

She had waited for years for someone who would step in and save her from her own mind, her own overthinking and her own fears.

But she found no one to fix her; and she finally gave up.

And when it was the least expected, she met this man who revealed parts of her which she herself wasn't aware that needed to be fixed.

She had buried her secrets in some corner of her darkness. Never wanting to touch them again.

But here he was, like a knight in shining armour, her ray of hope and anchor of strength.

And she knew she could truly rely on him for anything and everything.

These fears will inhibit my growth in life. And no matter when and with whoever I be with in the future, they will always trouble me. This man handles my emotions so well and I'm never overbearing, too much or overwhelming to me. He patiently listened to all my problems and didn't run away, but rather accepted my flaws and made them his own. I need to outgrow my fears, and this man is my catalyst for growth. This is why I can't run away from my feelings for him. I need him, and that's why we met. He is a part of the plan and the future ahead.

She was finally ready to move on and let go. Not just seek closure and seal her fears in one nook, but also fight her fears and win over them for ever and set free now.

She moved her fingers, tracing the handwriting on the pages. Her own handwriting had changed so much over the years, that she failed to recognise her old version.

But her train of thoughts did drift backwards to the old, naive version of herself.

The version of herself who was never scared of falling in love, risking it all and destroying herself.

“No, I can't forget him, he's my everything.”

She huffed and her tone increased in stubbornness.

“Then go and stay with him then.” She slapped her and took her phone away. “I'm disgusted by you. I'm so ashamed to have you as my daughter. You've ruined our reputation.” She spat on her daughter's face.

“You're a disgrace. Your face is so ugly and disgusting, how could you even imagine having a boyfriend?” Her father had never raised a hand at her, but he was on the verge of hitting her.

Her mother intervened to stop him. “Don't break your morals for her. She doesn't even deserve our attention actually.”

“So shameless.” He muttered. “From now on, you're dead for us. Our daughter is no more. Don't expect anything from us. Not even a formal funeral.”

She had been simply chatting to a classmate for a few months. And needless to say, she has a crush on him. And had confessed to him, because she was always a vocal person who wore her heart on her sleeve.
