Season 2, Episode 8: Nebraska

November 3rd     Day 71

Rory didn't move, she hadn't since her sister's life had been put to an end. She didn't think she could move ever again, not after what she saw. Her legs had turned into jelly and she'd probably fall if she stood.

The only noises were Beth and Ariel crying. She herself was devastated over her sister, and the girls were devastated over their mother. This world loved watching this.

After he was done in shock, Shane shrugged like this was all an inconvenience. He glanced over at Rick, his eyes smug and not even guilty at seeing everyone’s expressions.

“Don't look.” Daryl said softly, he was trying to rotate Rory’s body in his arms. “Don't look.” He said as he pulled her to her feet. She turned around and shoved him. Carol immediately took Sophia and left. She didn't want Sophia to have to watch that, what mother would?

Two clenched her fists. Tears fell from her small face, falling to the ground.

Beth sobbed as she walked forward to the walkers.

Two watched sadly. Beth reached towards the Walker that was her mother and shoved another off. “Ma. . .” Beth sobbed as she rolled the walker over to lie on its back. Her eyes glanced over the decaying body.

Then, the walker, the one who was her caring mother, reached up and grabbed her hair. Beth screamed.

Nobody could react, and Two gasped. Two ran over. She caught Beth. Her arms wrapped around her to pull her away from the walker.

Soon, everyone was around them both, arms wrapping around the two of them as others pulled the walker away.

T-Dog kicked it. Amidst everything, Andrea snatched a pickaxe. Grunting, she plunged it through the walker's head.

Everyone released the two. Two hesitated before also releasing. Hershel pulled Beth into his arms, holding her close.

“T,” Rick grabbed her gently. She looked at him, her eyes red and teary.

She didn't speak. She never did. She wanted to help the others kill the walkers but she couldn't. Rick did, but he didn't see the problem.

Two couldn't step up and do the right thing. Everyone knew they couldn't live next to those things.

Two kneeled down and grabbed a gun. She turned and ran off to the RV. She glanced at the house where Shane, Rick, and Glenn followed the Greenes.

All for different reasons. Glenn wanted to comfort Maggie. Shane wanted to badger them. Rick was there to stop Shane.

Two stopped. She looked over at the RV, then towards the woods. She didn't belong here, she bolted towards the woods.

Once deep in, she sat under a tree. She leaned her head against the bark. It was peaceful here, the years streamed down.

A little girl.

A sweet, timid girl was dead. Two felt sad when she watched Papa kill her siblings. She would have been next. But the little girl—she was six. Rory's age and her brother's age. A child. Two tried to protect him. She sobbed and held her head in her hands. Two had told him how to fight off the virus but now she knew that it wasn't a matter of fighting it off; it was a matter of immunity.

She failed him.

Papa failed him.

How many people will die? Carl? Rick and Lori? That old man? Pizza boy? Crossbow man? Beth? Theodore? Who else is gonna die? Anyone on this farm?
