An hour later, after Phantom dropped them off, Ezekiel and Shay at Ezekiel's Apartment building. Ezekiel finally arrived at his apartment door, unlocking it while carrying Shay in his arms. She was still in her orange cat form and overly parched from The Angle Blood Flowers she had eaten. She perched and groaned so much that she started to drool a little.
"Ok, where home." Said Ezekiel, looking down at Shay as she snuggled more into his chest.
Ezekiel smiles, shuts the door behind him, and makes his way into his apartment. Ezekiel's apartment is a luxury penthouse with two floors, big open spaces, and everything you need in a comfortable lifestyle. He walks into the living room, safely places Shay on the couch, and places a blanket over her.
"Would you like something to drink? I have a coffee and juices machine if you like." Asked Ezekiel, scratching Shay head.
"Meeelllow." Yelled Shay, snuggling onto the couch, and then she slowly shapeshifted back into her human form. Shay looked very tired, her face looked significantly paled, and her eyes were wide up. She started to dribble out of her mouth like her soul had just left her entire body entirely. "Just...Cough.... Water pleases?"
Ezekiel nodded and went to the kitchen to get her a glass of water while Shay looked around the fancy apartment, overwhelmed by how cool and nice it was.
"Here. Drink this, and it should make you get better, " said Ezekiel as he returned with a glass of water and handed it to Shay.
"Thank...'hiccup'...you." Coughed Shay, weakly taking the glass and taking a small sip of it. "God I feel like S###."
"Well that's what happens when you eat something that you shouldn't." Smirked Ezekiel, as he sat next to her on the couch.
"Tch! Shut up, Sherlock." Groan Shay, sitting her up and her other hand pressed against her head.
The two remain in silence, sitting beside each other, looking at the off-TV screen, and thinking in their thoughts.
"Have Shay?" Ezekiel said, breaking the silence. "Mind if I ask you a question?"
"Shot." Agreed Shay leaning herself forward and taking another sip of her drink.
"Before we left Chinatown. What did you mean by that your family would Freak out?"
"Pfffff!!!" Shay spits out, spraying water all over the coffee table, then looks sharply at Ezekiel. "Ummm.... What? Where did-... I mean, what are you talking about? I never said-..."
"Shay?" Said Ezekiel, giving her a hard intimation stare at Shay with a rising eyebrow.
Shay went quiet, nervous at first. She held her hands together and taped her thumbs around the glass. Then, after a long, hard sigh, she drank the rest of her water before placing it on the table and began to speak.
"They freak out because I would put them in danger because of who I am."
Ezekiel frowned, listening as Shay begin telling her story.
"You see, I was born with these skin-changing powers in a small town where people believe that the unnatural is unforgiving." Shay continued holding her hands tightly. "And because of that, my family did everything in their power to keep and prevent me from using my powers in front of the locals from ever finding out about it. But when I got older, I felt lonely cause people around town look at me as a weirdo-looking poor nerd when I had to keep my distance from other kids. That was when I started to see my powers as a gift, starting to become to reckless and careless with these powers. I used them to make fun of my bullies who bullied me and some other classmates, stealing other people's phones for S### and giggles, and the more I used my powers, the more I started to understand other animals from a skin I'm in."
