PERCY STOOD IN the forest, observing his surroundings, footsteps naturally silent. The night was chilly, and there wasn't anyone in sight. It seemed so. He turned once he heard two voices whispering harshly.

"You're overreacting."

The son of Poseidon immediately recognised the voice. Luke.

Luke? What was he doing here?

How did he sneak in??

"Overreacting? This is insane! What are you talking about?!"

The snappy tone was also immediately recognisable. Andie.

Andie???

"Look, I don't know why you didn't listen when I told you all this in my letter. Kronos chose you! He knows what you're capable of. He knows best."

He blinked. Twice.

"Luke, you know something came up," she groaned.

"Something or someone?"

"What?"

"You know you should've sacrificed him long ago."

"I didn't have the chance to!"

"The Gateway Arch? On Hera's chair? You could've just slain him and said it was an accident."

"And you know so much about that, don't you?!"

Percy took swift steps toward them, hiding behind a tree and getting a closer look at the two. He saw Andromeda's necklace on the ground, covered in dirt and leaves. The one that matched his own. He picked it up and put it in his pocket.

"You don't know what you're talking about, Rue."

"Don't-"

"The letter. You remember the letter. All the things I told you — the things I never got to say," the boy paused, "Rue means regret y'know? And I truly believe that our names have meanings. I regret giving you the choice of whether to help or not. Because you know you want to. You crave this. The glory. The attention."

"Luke."

"No! Let me finish!"

"You're just jealous because he's getting better than you!"

Luke snapped his head toward her, taking a step forward. "What did you say?"

"You know damn well. You taught Percy too well — he's good. And you're afraid. And you know what'll happen if you even try to harm me. That's why you're trying to get me on your side. I've got you figured out, don't I?"

"Enough. You do realise he isn't invincible, do you? I mean, he can't even survive a scorpion," the traitorous son of Hermes huffed, gripping backbiter.

While they kept arguing, Percy naturally took a couple of steps closer, accidentally stepping on a twig.

The two turned towards the sound, both their eyes widening into surprise.

"Percy," Andie breathed.

"Get him," Luke commanded.

"But-" the daughter of Apollo shook her head before turning to look at her best friend.

The look on his face wasn't surprise or anger; it was disappointment. And to Andromeda, that was even worse. His eyebrows furrowed, he shook his head, and his lips contorted into a frown. He sighed.
