MYSTIC MAGE

I remember those days, from my childhood, I was never quite happy. I lived in a family household with my parents, siblings, uncle, cousins and even my Grandma. Everyday they took me for granted and always take pleasure in my pain.

They spare no opportunity to insult and make me think less of myself and I believed them and thier words hunted me as a child. But you know what they say, when there's darkness there will always be a light. The one thing in the world that kept me together and stopped me from falling apart were CARDS.

I and my neighbour, he was an old adventurer who would sit down and play cards with me and even tell me about stories of his quest and adventures sparring no details including the women. I confided in him and made me feel safe around him, safer than I could ever feel around my parents. He was even kind enough to introduce me to the rest of his family who would come over during the end of the year to celebrate with him.
My parents found out and they tried as much as possible to keep him away from him but i kept going behind thier backs to talk to him. The old man believed in  me, he promised me i would succeed and shut out all the negative insults of my failure from my family.

The day he died was the worst day of my life. My parents rejoiced and even though I wasn't allowed to go to his funeral, I snuck out to give him my final farewell. The next day, one of his grand daughter approached me and gave me something the old man left behind for me. It was a the stack of card, the one we played together. I remember my heart flourished with joy and happiness and i couldn't hold my tears.

As i grew up the insults and maltreatment from my family continued to the extent that my younger siblings began to do it as well and I couldn't do anything about it. Whether I was right or they were wrong my parent will always take thier side to i gave up. They laughed as me, gossiped about me to the extent that i couldn't make friends because of the way they ruined my name in the village. I didn't care at the time, so I always stayed alone to play cards all by myself and I enjoyed it, even though it got really lonely. One day one my sister went through my things and  found my pack of cards and when I tried to get it back she tore it right in front of me. I was shattered that day and the memories hunt me. She and the rest of my family condemned me for it,

But the source of my damnation soon became the source of my salvation.

########

A faithful stormy night in an adventure guild/ inn/ dinner, adventurers are seated in tables drinking, laughing and eating to thier hearts content.  Seemed like a normal night to the attendant as she sat behind the counter, going through some papers on her desk. Not until the doors of the guild suddenly burst open getting everyone's attention and a cloaked figure stood by assive waiting to be invited in. The cloaked individual let himself in, he walked into the inn/ Adventurer guilt and everyone stared at him as he walked past each of thier table but soon began to mind thier business and continued with what they were doing.

The cloaked stranger stood before a large board which was hanged on the wall. It was filled with posters of available missions the guild hangs. He raised his hand and plucked out a paper from the board which had drawing and writings of a mission on it. He turned and started walking, making his way to the blonde hair attendant.

The attendant adjusted her glasses as she read through a piece of paper before her, then a black cloaked individual approached her. She was startled and raised her head to look at the adventurers face, but the cloak hid his face so well.

"Oh how may I help you kind sir"
She says and got no response from the adventurer. Instead he raises his hand and drops the paper on her desk, water pours on her desk and it was then she realised the Cloak was dripping wet. She opens a drawer behind the counter and pulls out a white hand towel and uses it to clean her table. When she was done, she returns it and looks through the paper placed on the counter.

"You want to take this mission" She asked and after all the crippy silence she finally got a reaction as the stranger in cloak nods his head slowly.

"Alone?" She asked and just like before got no reaction, so she took it as a Yes.

"Im sorry but the mission has already been taken by the group in table 5" She says and points at the table of some adventurer's from what she sees, clearly comprising of attackers, mages and healers who were packing up about to leave.

"You can choose to either join them or pick another mission suitable for you"  Bridget said,

The mysterious adventurer grabs hold of the paper on the counter and walks away from the attendant without hesitating or letting her finish what she has to say. As he walks away, the lady immediately drew the second drawee behind the counter. In it  was a crystal ball, she closed her eyes and place her hand on the ball.

Going through the information of various adventurers and hunter stored in it, but yet no information on the cloaked stranger who was with her a few moments ago. Since she took over to be running  the guild, she has seen a lot of adventurer's including few S rankers but what type of unknown madman would face an B+ rank monster alone and expect to survive.
