CHAPTER fifteen: HARD CHOICE
"Now that his alright what are you going to do" Cassian asks, his back rested on the wall of the house.
The Old man stops to thing for a second hearing his questions.
"I'm not sure maybe try to reach out to my daughter and her husband" Said the Old man,
"Are you going to tell me?" Cassian asked,
The old man gave nervous laugh,
"You can't really expect me to tell him his parents abandoned him, his just a child"
Cassian leans forward to stand right, getting his back off the wall and faces the old man with a dull expression on his face.
"The Mythril crystal will heal him not only that, it will give him powers and strength beyond his imagination, he will one day bring wealth and be a source of hope to the people around him. I see greater in him beyond all i've said"
Cassian say's.
The old man was shocked by Cassian's words and didn't know how to respond, but Cassian wasn't done yet.
"Do you know what will happen if he finds out himself in the nearest future. Believe me when I tell you, it would be a catastrophe to his parents and especially to you" He said,
The old man listened carefully with a shocked look on his face, and Cassian is right, but does he really want to put his grandson in despair all his life, knowing that his parents left him for dead.
It began to make him wonder the way Cassian spoke about this made him realise the the impressive young mage before him was a victim of a case similar to his grandson.
*SIGH*
The Old man sighs, he doesn't have the slightest idea on how to approach this matter. Clearly the young mage before him was clearly an expert in this field, so the best way he could handle the situation was is to learn from first
hand experience, which the young man before him definitely has.
"What should I do now?" He asked,
"First thing first, tell him the truth and don't try to make any attempt to reach out to his parents" Cassia say's and the Old man was shocked by his final words,
"But why?" He asks.
The old man is aware that Cassian is able to give advice on these matters, but he doesn't just understand the reason he shouldn't reach out to his daughter and her husband.
"His parents will only slow his growth especially if he already know the truth. The power and potential he possess should not be obstructed by anyone, so for his sake do not reach out to his parents" Cassian say's.
The Old man went silent and tries to reason this situation carefully. Cassian sighs, the old man was taking too long to decide whether to listen to him or go along with his plans to get in contact with his daughter.
So he had no other choice but to lay it down for the old man,
"I thought family loved and stuck by each other through thick and thin, your daughter and her husband ran, no where to be seen or found and leaving you with the impossibility of taking care of thier sick child. Is that really love?"
Cassian explains and the old man went quiet, he had always thought, no he has always forced himself to believe that his daughter left him for a good reason. But Cassian was putting the full picture of all that happened in his mind and he held a shocked expression on his face as he stares blankly at nothing.
"One of the funny things about being human is ignorance, or forced perception. Forcing and instilling ideas in thier head contradicting the reality of what truly happened. But when the pieces are put together before them with evidence, thier world shatters and falls reality state and metal believe they created for themselves shattered" Cassian said inwardly starring at the Man's shocked face.
The Old man was beginning to understand the reality surrounding him. Now that the false reality he created through beliefs has been shattered. He now realises that she stopped caring and fled form him and left him all alone to take care of her sick child, believing it would never get better.
"I'm a failure of a father" The Man sai, reality has finally dawned on him.
Cassian sees the sad look on the Old man face.if he was being honest with himself he can't call the man a total failure.
"But I have to thank you"
Cassian said, snapping the Old man out of his thoughts.
"huh why" The Old man asked confused.
"For not giving up on him and I know that a day will come he will appreciate you for that" Cassian say's, the Old man stood marvelled by his words.
They weren't just appreciation but also encouragement as well,
"You may have failed to raise your daughter but at least you have a second chance, with the boy. Not many get a chance to restart over, count yourself lucky. Cassian said with a sad tone in his voice,
The Old man noticed the sudden change in his voice but decided not to ask, a man's past is a dark place and only few will wish to share.
"Make sure you never tell anyone about the crystal and make sure he never tells anyone as well, the repercussion would be deadly"Cassian warns the man and turns to leave,
"Thank you young.............."
The Old man sops, realising he hasn't gotten the young man's name.
"How rude of me" He said inwardly,
"What's your name?" He asked,
Cassian stops in his tracks hearing his words,
"Just call me The Mystic Mage"
He said owning up to the title adventurer's called, because it has a nice ring to it.
"Take care of your grandson, i'd like to meet him again one day"
Cassian say's and walks away from the man.
The Old man took a deep breath putting his mind at rest and focused on telling his grandson the truth.
"The sooner the better" Said the Old man, before opening the door and entering the room.
