In the Hall of Eternal Light, beneath the endless spires of Heaven, the gods gathered.

Lazrael, the god of war, paced impatiently. "They hide from us," he growled, his fists clenched. "These Mothers, these creators—they fear what we could become if we took their power."

Seris, the goddess of knowledge, shook her head softly. "Fear? No. They do not fear us, Lazrael. They are simply beyond us. Their power is not something to be taken."

Lazrael slammed his fist against the table. "Then why do they stay hidden? If they are so strong, why not reveal themselves?"

A silence settled in the hall as Oris, the god of time, spoke. His voice was a slow, deliberate whisper, as ancient as the ticking of the universe itself.

"They exist in the flow of all things. Time bends around them, and space warps to their will. They do not fear us because to them... we are nothing."
