Change Is Scary, Even For Heroes

Ochako sighed as she sat with her son in her bed.

"Deku is mad."

"Yes, but not at you. He's mad at me." Ochako sighed

"I don't like it."
"I know, baby, I'm sorry." Ochako murmured "Daddy and I are catching up and there are a lot of emotions that come with that!"

"And we're gonna need to move?"
"Probably, buddy, but we're gonna be closer to your daddy! And mommy has so many friends in Musutafu, and they're going to adore you!"
Kaz frowned, shaking his head sadly as tears came to his eyes "I don't wanna move!"

"I'm sorry buddy, but.. Things are about to get more complicated. Deku is the number one hero, and.. If he's going to be in our life.. We need to be close enough to his agency for him to be us when he's free!"

Kaz frowned "Than I don't want him in our life."
"It's too late for that, buddy."
Kaz cried into his hands and Ochako hugged him "It'll be okay!" She would talk to Deku about ways to sweeten the deal with their son, maybe they could get a puppy, or even some new toys would be great.
"You know how many pro heroes live in Musutafu?"
"Yeah."
"You're gonna get to meet them! You're gonna get to meet a lot of them!"

Kaz sighed "That would be nice."
"I promise, it'll be great, okay? I'm just sorry you weren't born there." Ochako sighed, she should have just called Deku when she found out she was pregnant. He would have made her move to Musutafu, but maybe being Mrs. Midoriya wouldn't be so bad.

"I don't wanna move."
"I know buddy, but I promise, I'll make it up to you." She kissed his cheek with a sigh, "I'm sorry Kaz."
"It's okay mommy. I love you."
"I love you too Kaz." Ochako sighed, lifting her son onto her hip and taking him out to his father. Deku was still crying but he forced a smile when he saw his son.

"Hey buddy, I'm sorry I woke you!"

"I-it's okay daddy." Kaz sighed, "mommy says I have to move."

"Well.. Yeah. Probably, b-but you'll love Musutafu! It's a great city! I-I'll show you."

Kaz nodded sadly "O-okay daddy."
"I know it's scary. You're so brave and I'm so proud." Deku smiled softly

"I love you daddy."
"I love you too Kaz."
"Please don't yell at my mommy anymore. It's scary."
Deku nodded his head "I'm sorry I scared you buddy! I just got emotional, but it won't happen again."

"Thank you."
Deku nodded, holding the child in his arms and smiling at Ochako as she came down the hall. His family would come with him to Musutafu, and he would never go home to an empty house again. He kissed Ochako gently, nuzzling her cheek with a sigh.

"What do you want to do today Dekukun?"
"well I believe we promised Kaz cookies for breakfast!"

Ochako nodded "We did." she smiled down at her son and kissed his head before pulling away to go get him cookies.
"come sit at the table Kaz!"

Deku smiled as he watched his son, he knew he was about to experience an adjustment period, but he also knew that there were ways to make it less painful. He would do whatever it took. He looked at Ochako and his heart skipped a beat, he was mad at her, but she still made him weak in the knees. She had only gotten prettier with age, and the things she had accomplished since he last saw her, he was impressed, and to do it all as a single mother? He just wished he could have been with her through it.

Ochako kissed Kaz's head, "What are we gonna do today, Dekukun?" she murmured

Deku sighed "I'm not sure if I'm ready to go out in public with you two, m-maybe just a really quick errand just the three of us, like for ice cream or something, and than we go home the rest of the day?"
Ochako nodded "Maybe." She murmured
Kaz frowned "Why can't we go in public?"
"Well Kaz.." Ochako sighed "Your dad is a very public figure, and most people don't know he has a kid, so when he's seen in public with us, there's going to be a lot of press coverage, and your daddy is probably going to get about five hundred phone calls."

Deku huffed "Maybe we should just call everyone in advance." Deku sighed

"Maybe, but what does Kaz do while we're on the phone?"
"He can watch tv, right? It won't take too long!"

Ochako nodded "Okay."
Deku kissed Ochako's cheek and than his son's head. Deku picked up his son and held him on his hip. He looked at Ochako sadly, the night he had conceived with Ochako had been the night before he went to the United States for a particularly tricky mission.. He had told everyone he met in the United States how much he loved her, and than he got home and she hadn't been willing to return his calls. Made him feel like an idiot. She looked at him with a weak smile
"What's wrong Dekukun?"
Deku sighed, looking at her and than at Kaz and shook his head "I love you both so much."

"Love you too."
Deku sighed, I'll call everyone first and than they'll probably call you." Deku huffed

"Okay." Ochako replied, pecking his lips and holding him in her arms.

Deku sighed, "All of our friends are going to think I'm an idiot, or worse, a deadbeat."
"How would they think you're a deadbeat? Everyone knows you wouldn't abandon a child!"
Deku huffed, shaking his head, "take Kaz to watch tv." he replied

Ochako nodded, taking their son to her bedroom to watch tv.

Deku called Shoto to tell him he had a son he hadn't met until the day prior. Deku made lots of phone calls, and he got a lot of judgement. He told people the mother was Uraraka, that he had a three year old son.. People had questions, but none of them were questions he could answer. He didn't really understand why Ochako had hidden from him, he didn't know much about Kaz yet either. He just knew he was a dad, and he intended to fulfill his duties as a father from this point on. People asked how it would impact his hero career, he didn't know how to protect his son from enemies, he just knew he needed to. He wasn't going to neglect his child. He was beginning to wonder if maybe Kaz should stay in Kyoto for a little longer. He would visit, but maybe he should stay here until he got the chance to update his security.. Get people in position to protect him. He sighed, he didn't want Kaz to think he had abandoned him though.. He could call Hatsume and ask her if she could update his security system for him, it wouldn't be cheap, but it would be worth it to take his little boy home on time.

Ochako didn't have much fun calling people either, how could she? Deku had such a big heart, he was such a sweetheart. Why would she hide his baby from him? Why would she be scared to raise a baby with him? She didn't know. She didn't know why she hadn't wanted to raise Kaz with Deku. She said it was because she assumed he wouldn't stay loyal, but even if that was the case, he had a right to his child. She sighed, she had known people would be mad at her when news broke about this, and people were actually being pretty kind considering, but she felt awful. She loved Deku, she shouldn't have done this to him.

Once it was over, Deku looked at Ochako, she was crying. He wished he didn't feel like she deserved it. It wasn't like him to enjoy someone else's suffering, but he supposed he hated to see her cry, it was just nice that people didn't seem to think that this situation was his fault. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek

"It's okay." Deku sighed, "the hard part is done now. Now it's just the civilians we have to worry about."
Ochako nodded
"and, really the only opinions that matter about our relationship and our son, are yours and mine." he sighed

Ochako nodded, hugging him gently "I'm sorry Dekukun! I was wrong!"

Deku sighed "I forgive you. I love you."

"I love you too Dekukun."

Deku sighed "What does Kaz like to do?" Deku sighed

"We could take him to the park, or look up some arts and crafts.. WE could go watch tv with him for a while."
Deku nodded "Why don't we ask him what he wants to do?"
Ochako nodded, and Deku kissed her head before going to the bedroom where Kaz was sleeping. Deku smiled, kissing his son's forehead and running his fingers through his hair.
"We should let him sleep." Ochako said softly

Deku nodded, kissing her gently, Ochako kissed back with a sigh

"We need to talk more." Deku huffed "but for right now.. I'm tired of talking!"
Ochako sighed "So what do you want to do?"
"Can I hold you?"

Ochako nodded "Of course."
Deku kissed her softly "I missed you." he sighed against her lips.

"I missed you too." she murmured

"You think we have time?"
Ochako nodded with a soft smile "We'll have to stop if we hear anything."
Deku nodded, kissing her deeply "I will. Guest room?"

"Yeah."
