Harper's POV

I almost made it. My final part of the obstacle course. A ginormous climb over the rocks and onto the water slide which I climb up and reach the top of the platform by the swimming pool. As I put my first foot on the water slide I felt the sloped surface cause me to lose my footing. I thought my grip was tight but I was wrong.

The descent felt like it was in slow motion and when my head hit a rock I felt a splash before I fell into a deep unconsciousness.

The next time I woke up I was cold, wet and with daddy in hospital. It doesn't surprise me that daddy was with me, mommy had a baby recently and now she barely even speaks to me. I feel so hungry because she doesn't force me to eat, she forgets breakfast and snack time and she's always just sleeping whenever the baby isn't crying. I hate my brother, he takes her from me.

"Mama!" I sobbed just wanting her by my side. She was nowhere though. I don't think she cares.

Travis POV

I followed the bed on wheels as the doctors rushed Harper to the urgent care unit. They presumed she would end up with secondary drowning due to how much water she swallowed and it wasn't looking good. I had told Taylor about Harper's state and mentioned how I was taking her to hospital but I got no reply. Not even a hint of worry from her.

Harper had completely knocked herself out by cracking her head open at the back on one of the rocks surrounding the pool. I was already on my way out to grab her when she fell into the pool. I had just gotten home from work when I found Harper out there and Taylor busy watching tv and feeding the baby, oblivious to it all.

We were led into a private room where they began to attach many machines to harper and put a cannula in her hand. That usually means we will be here a while. I then had to watch as she kicked and screamed while they put a feeding tube down her nose. She had been coughing and in a lot of pain from so much water on her chest so getting her to eat solid food would be impossible.

Once the doctors finally left I made my way over, deciding to at least attempt comforting her. All she wanted was Taylor but unfortunately Taylor was treating her extremely unfairly. I'm almost sure that Taylor hasn't even held Harper since our son was born. She claims to treat them fairly but I don't believe it. She doesn't seem to understand how upset Harper actually gets seeing her with him.

She continued to sob and beg for Taylor so I decided to at least try texting Taylor.

Me:
Hey Tay, just at the hospital, they've closed the wound on her head and she's on oxygen. Just been given a feeding tube and she's desperate to see you. Are you coming up?

Tay 🩷:
No

Me:
Why not? She wants some Snuggies.

Tay 🩷:
I don't want Charlie to get sick from hospital germs. She'll be fine.

I decided to leave her message open. She clearly doesn't even care about what Harper is going through. I ended up staying with harper in hospital for the next few days. Over this time my anger only grew more and more over Taylor until when the doctors came in on day 3 stating that harper's condition was worse. "I recommend you call family to come say goodbye just in case because it's not looking great." The doctor told me.

I turned to look at Harper who still had an oxygen mask over her face and was getting worse. She had no energy left in her body to fight. Due to Taylor not being here she had refused food so it was all going down hill. This time instead of asking Taylor I made myself clear to her however before I could send it I got a message from her.
